Thanks to those of you who suggested that after injury and illness I should just get out there and have a very gently go! You were entirely right. It is a gorgeous day here, cold but beautifully sunny, so I decided this was the day to see if the knee injury had abandoned me and the chest infection had finally gone away. I decided to walk up our hill and run very gently down, walking if I needed to, and just getting out there to see how it felt. And it felt great! I ran for about twenty minutes, not fast but feeling fine and with no twinges or breathlessness. I think I had been feeling so rough I was expecting that my lungs would give out on me or my knees would make me keel right over! Need to have more faith!
So for my next run I will have a go at thirty minutes and if that is ok I will hop onto the Magic Plan and see if I can get to 10k. Here goes!

I’m surprised to be honest. I’ll see how it goes to run a bit longer but I’m really looking forward to getting back to longer runs and working towards 10k.
Thanks Jonathan. You are very right. I have to curb my desire to get out there and do way too much! I am still coughing quite a bit at night so I can't say I am completely recovered. I will try to remember when I am wanting to rush around madly!
Do the time, but do it gently. Savour each minute of being back! There's plenty of time ahead to pick up speed again but avoiding more time off is your priority for now 🙂. Good luck and enjoy
