Last 2 runs I did, both 5k were hard. I had got to 60mins and was going to work up from 8.5k to 10k but I’ve lost confidence. I did a parkrun and seriously couldn’t wait for it to end, then I was going to try for at an 8k on thurs and my legs felt like lead, I decided to cut my loses and just do 5.
What’s up? I just don’t know, I do feel tired but otherwise am well. I am going to run tomorrow and between now and them I’ll work out the distance. 🤨

Watch your pace. You're probably going too fast. Happens to us all as we get fitter. Tend to set off a bit quicker without really thinking about it. Even a slight increase can have a big effect on your breathing and how easy the run feels.
As SlowLoris says, I’d slow down on the long runs and save speed until your parkrun. If you did parkrun today it would be best to have a day off if you are feeling tired.
Hi Milajayne ...sometimes running does his to us...and I don’t know why! I am currently running every day for RED January so I am doing 3k everyday, I’ve done a 6k and a 5k along the way too...but they were hard...now I’m worried that when I do start my normal running routine in Feb that I won’t be able to run 10k ever again! Do you know what though? You have run for 60 mins and that in itself is amazing...but I think you’re starting your runs off with negative ‘I can’t do this’ thoughts...when you set off...aim for your 60 mins and just keep on running...don’t look at how far you’ve run...just keep going...push those thoughts out of your head because you KNOW you can do it....start your run off slowly so you don’t burn yourself out..
Yeah negative thoughts don’t help for sure. I’m gonna give something a go tomorrow, not sure what. I was wondering was the freezing cold having an effect but my lungs and breathing seem ok.
Hmmm sounds to me like you need to give your body some rest, and at a guess your pace may be too fast. Could you do a couple of weeks to keep up your routine of running on the same days ( it’s so important not to break the routine) but do shorter distances at a much slower pace as active recovery? Then I think you will feel better, less tired, and ready to continue your training plan?
Thanks ju ju, my routine is all over the place due to lots of day to day reasons so I just try to get a few runs in when I can. However I did manage 5 miles today and I felt good so think it’s worked itself out 😃
I posted a similar story last week . The monday and wednesday run I felt so tired or exhausted on the run , like I just didn't have the energy to run. It really bothered me as I have had lots of energy since I started running. The Friday run was a bit better. Then monday of this week I managed a 10k no problem.
What I did do was paid the doctor a visit and explained this so he arranged for a few blood tests .
It may be nothing but good to get checked out.
I also don't feel unwell or anything just noticed that I was a bit fatigued .
Cheers buddy, glad your GP took you seriously. I’d consider it myself if I still felt things weren’t right but at the same time getting a doctors appointment round here is difficult!
Anyway today I ran 5 miles so was happy 😃 it felt good again. I’m putting those crappy runs down to a blip.
