The one day of the year that you can run 2 parkruns in the same day (without playing with time zones), New Year's Day is it.
It took a very special kind of insanity to get out of bed, after hosting a NYE party through to the small hours, and drive to a fresh parkrun that was on, for 9am. The extra level of insanity was then required to quickly hop in my car after running the gruelling Mole Valley parkrun (valleys have hills!!), and drive 30 minutes down the road to Reigate, get out and do it again.
Really friendly bunch at both venues, and a real team spirit. I admit the second 'run' involved a lot of walking, as I was pretty low on energy by then. I'm normally pretty strict on keeping the run going whatever, but I think I will forgive myself this one.
So that is first 10K on Monday and 5K+5K on Wednesday. I can safely say the latter was a lot tougher.
Now I think I've deserved a couple of recovery days.

Well done to you on your Double. I’d never ran a parkrun on Christmas Day or New Years Day Before. Hard to believe that within 2 weeks I’ll have done 5 parkruns. Like you I was up early after hosting a New Year party in our house last night. I was collected at 8am and went with 5 others from my local parkrun to do a double in Dublin. We did one at 9:30 and the second at 11:00. I ran sub 30 for both which I was delighted with. There were loads of people who traveled to both and over 800 people ran the second parkrun. it was so nice chatting to other tourists and everyone was in such high spirits. Great atmosphere and a great way to kick off the New Year.
Congratulations! I did my first Christmas Day and first NYD double too (Crane and Old Deer) although without the hangover as was on taxi duty instead for son #2, but still only on 4hrs sleep. Not my best times and I’m aching from head to toe now, so possibly not my best idea!
Deer Park was very friendly with lovely people but a sticky muddy 3 lapper on grass which took all the momentum out of each stride! Loved Crane Park! Both new ones for me! (Bushy is home)
