Good morning runners! After realising the other day that I could now run a sub 30min 5k at super "easy" pace, I wanted to test the theory that I could run a sub 60min 10k at the same relaxed "easy" pace...
Up before the birds, kit on and out of the house for 5 something, 1km warm up walk, stretches and off into a slow 10k. I took coach bennett today with one of his hour runs, I've heard it before a couple of times, it's the one with English Gardner and the Headspace guy on there, both interesting people. In the background I had classic dance playing to keep me moving. My legs were pretty tired and appreciated the steadier pace, also breathing was a lot more relaxed especially first half. The gremlins wanted to give up pretty early on, around the 3km mark they started chirping up and again at 5k. Gremlin you now I don't give up so why do you still persist? π€£ They didn't win. By the 8k mark I felt pretty tired and wished I'd brought some water, luckily the temperature was pretty low so was able to drive on to the finish.
Amazingly I ran at a steady easy pace and finished 10k in 59.59 πππ
Theory proven, I can "slow" run 10k in under an hour π€£
Getting near an hour took me maximum effort only 5/6 months ago, the human body is an amazing thing and you can achieve whatever goals you set for yourself ππ»ππ»
Is a 45 minute 10km achievable (current best 56.22) π€π€ I think that's the target I'm going to work towards over the next year, it may never happen but I love a good goal π
Have a great day runners!
