10K part deux

My second 10K which I thought would be harder as the first one, a week ago, was a great novelty, whereas the second would be merely the chore of repetition. And so it proved, hard going and slower. But completed!

I watched my heart rate more carefully this time and mostly kept it below 160, though according to Garmin, I ran a shorter distance, more slowly, in identical conditions, with a slower heart rate - and yet burned more calories ...

Next up a kind of anti celebration of Christmas, a 5K run on Wednesday morning which I shall enjoy greatly.

Congratulations on your second 10k , isn't it amazing what we can achieve with determination and a great supportive forum .

I will be with you on Wednesday ( well not running along side you) as I will also be out on Christmas day. 🎅🎅🎅🎅

It is indeed - for sure I would have given up when I got injured without the encouragement and support provided by this forum.

Enjoy your Xmas run - excellent justification for an extra mince pie.

I don't eat currants, raisins etc I don't like the taste never have done.

But what I do like are Black Magic chocolates . You only see them at Christmas time. So I will have a few of them . 🎅

I remember Black Magic chocolates - didn't realise they had become rare.

I can't stand tomato sauce / ketchup myself, tastes like vomit to me. Fortunately baked beans are not a Christmas delicacy!

Well done on your second 10km! Definitely not a fluke then! 😂 Enjoy your run on Wednesday, 5k sounds like a perfect distance to go for.

Thanks Debs. Want to build up to three 10K runs a week, but slowly and carefully! Happy Christmas. 🎄

Headed 100miles south to the family left very cold frosty conditions at home, just had a run in 8 deg, forgot what warm weather running was like 😉

Well done, a great time too.

For the me the second time I did 10K was to prove the first time wasn't a fluke! Haha!

Yeah - absolutely, I felt like "am I really going to run 10K? Again?!" Especially after resting for a week (with a couple of 5K runs).

A longer run feels to me like stepping into an alternative reality - a hostile and unfamiliar reality. But the sense of achievement at the end is something I savour. At my time of life (62) it is making me feel very alive.
