It was not long after finishing C25K. All my running was too fast and out of breath. It was soon after that though that I discovered slowing down and enjoying running. That's when I changed my user name.
Speed work is amazing for increasing pace. I knocked a whole 8 minutes off my parkrun time this year. I did interval training. You can do it by breaking up a 5K run into 500 meter intervals. Warm up first, then run 500 meters fast, recover by running next 500 meters at a slower pace then repeat. If you have a GPS watch you can select a target pace to aim for and try to hold. Over a few weeks you will get used to the faster pace and your 5K times will improve. Good luck. It’s hard work, but worth the effort.
Thanks Damien, lots of great advice there. I don't have a gps watch at the moment but certainly an investment to think about. Well done on knocking 8mins off your pb, that's seriously inpressive!!
Well I did it! Felt a bit like going back to week 1 of c25k... mentally getting through 6 lots of 1 minute... but feel good now I've done it and will definitely do it again!!
