Dexy5 says she’s never again signing up for running with me. Ever. We battled through horizontal rain, gale force winds and hail - and that was before we’d even got to the start! Up The Stanley, who was duty photographer and bag carrier, went home for better foul weather gear while we took shelter behind a wall. Sadly the weather obviously put lots of people off as the numbers were well down on last year but we brave souls set off, Dexy being nearly taken out by a pushchair within the first minute. But she stuck with me, despite my slowness and we got out and back without the ignominy of losing our antlers. Rain at first and still ridiculously windy but we did it! Coddfish and Mr Coddfish turned up to see us off and stayed to see us finish which was really above and beyond the call! So last year when Dexy did this run and I said blithely “I’ll do it next year“, never really expecting to, I’m proud (and just a teensy bit pleased!) to say I now have my first bit of running bling! And I can’t thank Dexy and UTS enough for getting me this far. Onwards and onwards for me!

I am so proud of you; you have achieved so much since February. I could easily have turned around and gone home but you faced the elements and did us proud. Very very well done. My antlers were well and truly flatted at this point! And look there’s another black rain cloud behind us.

It was and I’ve been very lucky with the weather in all my races this year, so I was probably due a wet windy one.
