...My heart will go on!

For those of you who read my "Heart Attack" post a couple of weeks ago, you'll be pleased to know I finally made it to the doctor today.

healthunlocked.com/bridgeto...

So after my chest pain on the Thursday evening run, it's never actually happened again despite my efforts to raise my heart rate and push myself hard both running and cycling. However, things haven't felt normal so I did ring the NHS 111 number at about 1030pm last Monday Night. After what felt like a thousand questions they got a doctor to phone me back about 1.30am. He wasn't concerned but offered me the option of going to A&E for tests, but warned it'll likely be a 5hr wait. I decided a good night's sleep was more beneficial to me!

GP appointment today, where they did the usual checks and another hundred questions. Nothing stood out as abnormal so she suspects it's muscular/skeletal (some tiny ligaments around the ribs etc) that have been working harder than they're used to over the last few months. So nothing to worry about, but has booked me in for a routine ECG & Fasted Blood Tests to check my cholesterol etc for 30th December.

I'll let you know how that goes, as that could help me plan my Half Marathon training that should begin in January.

Good news!

Few years ago I had funny story having experienced sharp intense chest pains. I had all sorts of heart tests (echo, treamill and ecg) just to be diagnosed with cartilage inflammation of the sternum! LOL

I wish someone told me to rub some Ibuprofen or Diclofenac gel before sending me for all these tests.🙄😂

Glad you got checked out, your cholesterol shouldn’t be bad as a runner it’s one of the benefits we’ve found is lower cholesterol

Good luck with your training plan

Must be a relief. If you have raised cholesterol, that's very common - I've been on statins for years with no adverse reactions.

That’s really good to hear but also that they’re checking you out fully.
