Hello VRB's - not posted for a while but i am still here!

Running has gone slightly amiss over the last couple of weeks...the dark mornings hit me hard and i have failed to get up and out. On the plus side i have maintained my long runs on Thursday nights and kept up 2 runs a week.

*21 Nov - 10k run with my new kit - fabulous! Gloves came off at 3k cos my hands were sweating!

*28 Nov - 8.5k run - the weather was much milder, a good run - not the fastest but i did it

*5 Dec - 10k run - wind was cold and strong in places. At least i escaped any rain. Gloves were off at 2k lol...i wonder what conditions have to be for hands not to get hot? Anyway it was a great run, i had to change my route slightly as the canal sections i normally run were so dark (park conservation) i had to put my phone torch on for a section of it!

I decided to change up my running music, inspired by the BBC drama I had started to listen to Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds, so put it on my phone and ran with it. Oh it was epic people! There are some very eerie moments when you are running in the dark but it was great, and my running rhythm was relaxed throughout.

Being a child of the 80's when the hurricane hit and took out the TV ariels my dad had this on vinyl, we spent three days listening to this, and the book that accompanied it set the imagination alive...so much so I vividly remembered it all when i started listening to it again. So that is now going to be my long run theme :-)

The plan now is to get back into the swing of running - I need to get over the dark mornings - I've done it before i will do it again.

Happy running VRB's and good luck to anyone with an event this weekend x

If you made it all the way to the end...i thank you ๐Ÿ˜Š

Great stuff Alisonx! Well done to you! Nice to hear about the run with great memories! Getting out is always a great achievement no matter how many times you do it! โค๏ธ

Well done on the running, and lovely story. Good idea for some running music, look forward to trying it out. I remember that album; Justin Hayward's so smooth vocals and Richard Burton's growly narration for company will be fun.

An inspiring list of runs plus a good new listening idea! Thank you. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ Itโ€™s hard work getting out there this time of year, Iโ€™m finding - itโ€™s my first time through a full winter. Good to have some more experienced folk showing me how to do it. ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘

Youโ€™ve just given me a great idea for long runs as I use to love that album. Still know all the words to Forever Autumn ๐Ÿ™„ Did you find you ran faster in the scary bits....๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

Well done on keeping going though ๐Ÿ™‚

haha yes i think i did ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธyou know! Richard Burton is epic through it, I listened to the new version on youtube but Liam Neeson just does not have the same dramatic effect

I adore Richard Burtonโ€™s voice. I have a โ€œthingโ€ about nice velvety voices ๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿ˜˜

I love the original war of the worlds sound track. Keep singing it at appropriate moments in tv series ๐Ÿ˜€ your getting some lovely long runs there. Glad you managing with gloves off. I had such a cold 1hr run a couple of weeks ago I couldn't unzip or trigger car key. Ended up fully clothed in bed with hot bottle, bowl of porridge and pot of tea. Even then it took 30 minutes to reheat ๐Ÿฅด now I choose weather carefully

oh no GTB - that does not sound like a fun way to end a run...never had that before. I still end up red and hot in the winter lol
