Many years ago, when I ran my first marathon (I am a post injury returner whom the C25K and B210K is helping to rebuild in my 60s) I asked for help and support on various running websites. I expected encouragement and support, not the denigration and awfulness of some comments.
HOW VERY DIFFERENT THIS SITE IS. Without exception, people on this site support, praise and help one another. That's what true sportspersonship - and basic humanity - is. Thank you all. I am still struggling to get back into some sort of shape, but your wonderful comments make it all so easy.

Yes this place is absolutely amazing. Everyone from C25K, parkrun, 5K, 10K, Half Marathon and Full Marathon and everything in between. I love the friendly atmosphere, support and encouragement. No one judges and everyone is just on their own journey. Happy running and happy parkrun eve.😀
I am one of those people who would say I couldn't have got to where I am without the wonderful people on here.
I'm at 8k building up to 10k, any time anyone needs any help or advice or just a moan about one of their runs they just post on here and the replies just make everything so much better.
So I hope this forum can help you get to where you want to be . Good luck 🤗🤗
Lovely post and you are of course right - this forum is a very special place! Wonderful that you are now also part of the team and sharing your own experience and knowledge with us all. Good luck with your own goals - we do genuinely encourage, support and celebrate each other's achievements here! 😄😄👍
Good luck with your journey back to fitness 😃💪👍🏃♀️
I agree, it’s fantastic. I was struggling on C25K and in fact it was Buddy34 who responded to my message and gave me the encouragement I needed to carry on.
I got to 8k then had a couple of minor injuries but with kind advice and encouragement I will be trying the 8k again on Sunday.
Good luck with your journey, you will get there and everyone will be cheering you on.
This is truly a wonderful site. Any time anyone starts to talk to me about " dreadful social media " I tell them about this wonderful community. 👍🙆♀️🏃♂️🏃♀️💕
I'm hoping to compete in my 17th successive London Tri in August next year.
This year the C25k and B210k helped me so much on the run leg. I thought about all the success stories, all the stories of effort and determination, all the encouragement, from people on this site, as I ran my slow trot to the finish. The well-known music filled my head. I imagined the voice on my tape urging me on every five minutes. The finishing time mattered so little. Finishing was everything.
So yes, thank you all. At this rate I'll still be lining up for tri at 70:))
I agree about this site, for sure. 💕🎉 The lovely mentors and admins set a tone and keep an eye, starting on C25k, and somehow it all carries through. Wonderful community.
I do hope your recovery from injury is going well. It must be awful to be stopped in your tracks amidst activity you love.
I don’t know about the non-running bits of HU but these forums are great. I guess we all started from a similar place and are all absolutely delighted to find people going through a similar journey. Good luck.
Lovely post. You're so right, this isn't just a forum, it's an amazing, truly positive community of like minded folk. Good on you for making a comeback now - hope you enjoy every minute of it. Are you aiming for another marathon?
Thank you so much, Linda. I switched to tri because it's easier on my joints and the last marathon back then took a lot out of my musculo-skeletal system. Not the actual run but the training and all those long runs and hill repeats.
At nearly 62 I think that another marathon may be beyond my reach, but who knows? With all of the people on this site being so encouraging, I may have one more left in the tank
After all, one can spend one's golden years by the telly on the sofa or one can go out there and make those years count!
I started looking at duathlons after my recent injury to ease the impact ... but I've been suckered back into another HM 🤣. I think a marathon is beyond me - huge respect to anyone that completes one, whatever their age. Here's to injury free running, whatever the distance 🙂
Hey, we're all suckers. Suckers for life and living it to the full! Good luck with that HM. I will be rooting for you through all that mental and physical effort. Take care of yourself. We all want to see you at that finish line - even if it's only online!!!
