Sweat, blood and too much mud!

Started Week 2 with the long run of 6km this morning. Didn't feel too daunted setting off for my warm up walk but had a bad attack of the gremlins for the first 5 minutes or so, no idea why. Eventually got into my stride and started enjoying it. It is a lovely sunny day here and I got a bit complacent, just enjoying the scenery and the sunshine rather than watching my feet. All of a sudden I slipped on a squelchy patch but I managed to go into a squat and put my hand out to avoid sitting in the mud! Quite proud of that, maybe squats are useful after all! That dented my confidence a bit and I slowed right down. Still not looking at the ground enough, next I ran straight into a long bramble which was lying in wait. It got me right across my ankle! Muddy and bloody but I was NOT giving up with only a km to go. I kept on and was pleased to finally complete the 6km. Hoping my next run feels a bit less eventful! Happy running everyone. 👟 ☺

Sounds like an obstacle course Debston but you did it and like a runner you just kept going. Have a great day 😊😊

Thanks Buddy34, think I'll just sit quietly and safely indoors for the rest of the day!

Well, I was actually relieved to read your post, as the photo looked liked horrendous shoe rub or something else truly dire. Bramble is bad enough. 😨Hope that’s it for Running Mishaps for you for a while. Got it over with in one go perhaps. Heal quickly! 👍

Thanks Granspeed, I have had a lovely bath and cleaned off the mud and the blood and smothered the scratches in antiseptic cream so looking a lot less startling now!

Ouch Debston! 😯! Good on you for that focused determination! I’m sure you’ll be a bit more aware of your footing on the next run. We all make adjustments and learn something from every run. Well done you!! Run complete! ✅❤️

Ouch! Hope you are OK, Debs. And this blip aside, glad to hear the running is otherwise going well.

Thanks Stephen_UK, just a few scratches that should heal quickly. It's so nice to be back running, although today's run was a bit rubbish! I'm determined to keep going and reach that 10k eventually...

Ouch. That was an eventful one. Glad you’re okay and the gremlins didn’t interfere with your 6K. Good to get the long one out of the way early! 😀

Well done on keeping on going and making it to the end of the 6k run, I found it hard enough yesterday without having all the booby traps in the way :)
