Very cold. It was 0 Celsius in the morning, so forcing myself outside was an act of will, and waiting for the start was quite a trial. However, this was made so much better by a very friendly bunch of runners and volunteers at Woking. It’s a nice course, almost flat, with trail paths, tarmac and foot bridges.
The biggest challenge was about 0.5km of each of the three laps was in the woods and very muddy. As I realised with my Homewood run, I find this very challenging as it breaks rhythm and really taxes my legs. Also, as I wear glasses that inevitably fog up after about 1km, I find it tricky to see what I’m treading on.
Anyway, I still enjoyed the challenge, and my time, although no PB, was not as bad as I feared.
In other news, to coincide with starting Ju-Ju’s plan for 10k, I have signed up for our local town’s 10k run in February. Targets work for me. I should also be doing the London Winter Run if I can get organised.
