During the summer on a balmy (barmy!) evening over a bottle of wine in France, my BFF, a keen cyclist, suggested that she would do C25k if I do Sofa 2 50k on the bike. Anyway, as she lives in Stratford, I put her in contact with Katnap and she joined his group in September. Today was her graduation run and we had arranged a VRB meet up. Shake-and-run and Katnap were joined by TailChaser and both kittens, cheekychipmunks with Flossie, Dexy5 , UpTheStanley , Oldgirlruns Windoze plus a couple of non HU friends. What a great course. I got a 2nd consecutive PB of 29:29 and Shake-and-run ran her first non-stop 5k in 42 minutes 👏👏👏 Then it was off to the cafe for a well deserved coffee and chocolate cake. Thank you RBs for yet another wonderful morning. I’m up to 20k on the bike - watch this space.

Great achievements well done. Looks like a great get together
Fantastic Sandie, congratulations on your PB (I knew you’d do it!) and looking forward to seeing your biking progress 👏👏👏
So when do you and Shake-and-run plan to do triathlons?
🐱 Katnap 🐱
Well on your epic PB Sandie (you need to change your user name to SpeedySandie1961) and also Shake-and-run on her fantastic graduation run! What a lovely morning we all had. ❤️
Maybe this is the start of a new pedal powered Pb patch. I would guess that cycling should complement running really well. No stopping you soon 🚴♀️🏃♀️
Well done on that PB Speedy Sandie - it must be that lucky T-shirt . Sorry I missed Shake-and-run’s tag on my post. Didn’t get much chance to congratulate and chat to her but will do this evening @ the pub 🥂🍻🍹🍷
I hope this makes the pain of cycling go away. 20k to 50k sounds as bad as parkrun to GSR, and while I lived to tell the tale of my 2nd GSR, I won’t be doing it again.
Great to combine a VRB meet-up with a c25k graduation and a PB - excellent!👍
Awesome PB and was lovely to see you again 🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♂️🏃♂️😎😎🎉🎉
Look at you all ready for your Saturday morning fix! Stronger together ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Nice one... congrats on the PB, and amazing that you still had a bike ride in you... maybe I should try this chocolate cake thing!
Well done and congratulations on your PB Sandie, just fab! It’s scary what we can commit to after a few glasses 🙄
Well done to Shake-and-run too!
Isn’t it just? Mind you, after yesterday’s run, she decided to take me for a short bike ride for coffee and cake today. 45km and one closed cafe later ... ! It was a very pretty and undulating ride through Cotswold villages though. Lovely 😊
45k and no cake????
I know 😳 The cafe Nikki chose was closed (even though we could see some people inside 😢) and the next place we went, we were told to ring the bell but nobody came to serve us. Thank goodness I still had my chocolate brownie from Windoze on Saturday!
Well done to you! All sounds absolutely great!
Congratulations on your PB! Fantastic! 🍾🥂🏅🏃♀️🤸♂️🏃♀️🤸♂️🏃♀️🤸♂️👏🏻👍🌟 💥⚡️🎉😊
Have you now cycled the 50km?
I just cannot believe that I have now done a sub 30 parkrun 2 weeks running after trying for so long 😃 My Sofa to 50k programme is 8 weeks and I have only done 2 weeks of it, but my lovely friend took me out for a “short” ride which turned out to be 45k 😳 So 50k not yet completed but not far off. Now need a cycling event with bling. Got to have bling, my precious 😂
You are managing amazing feats! Presumably your running fitness is transferable to cycling 🚴♀️🏃♀️😊 Did you find running at sub 30 pace seriously demanding?
Cycling shorts definitely help😂 All my sub 30 parkruns have been on almost completely flat routes, which I’m sure helps massively!
Still very hard effort, I imagine.
I think it’s like a lot of things, sometimes it just all comes together and you don’t really know why. Into a bottle of wine so now talking bulls**t 😂
Hmm... I asked as I ran two sub 30 5kms and they were seriously hard work. They were before my injury and long ticking over period this Summer. No idea if I shall ever return to that pace, but ugh! Those runs were hard and for one I also had ghastly tummy trouble. Enjoy your wine! I'm trying to make alterations to a pair of my husband's suit trousers. Don't think wine is a good idea at present! Happy running and cycling to you! 🏃♀️🚴♀️😊🌸
Seriously, I have been doing intervals, hill runs and also longer runs. Thankfully I have been blessed with not having had any injuries so far but I really think that the key thing is not to really aim for a particular time but just to set out to have a good run. I know that sub 30 is a real goal, but if you feel you have given your best, there’s nothing better xx
I can confirm that I am finding it hard work trying to get under 31 mins over61!
With your husband very hot on all these matters, I am sure you don't need any hints from little ole me. I just set my watch to show average pace and knew that I needed to average less than 6minutes per km. Ha ha! No way I could do it now. I had a little go a week or so back and after 1km, I thought that this is for another day! Just putting miles in my legs for the time being together with sight seeing. 7.74km today😊
