Hello my running lovelies....HAPPY FRIDAY!!!!

How quick has this week gone??? Goodness me, time is literally flying by...I have really enjoy this week, my first week as Quest Queen, there have been some absolutely gorgeous photos of the Autumn, in particular the trees that are now another week older and have a weeks less leaves on them making the pavements a bit treacherous so BE CAREFUL out there...I don't want any reports of any bum slides!!!

How has your 1st week of the quest gone? I am still batting away at the training plan I'm on...and being a massive fan of interval work I am really enjoying myself but what is this weather like?? Phew, last night I had a snatched run while my daughter was with her tutor and I have to hold my hands up to those of you who didn't see my post, it was such a snatched run that I didn't have any lights and didn't have my inhaler so it was a real battle against the wind, rain and cold, thankfully, there was a lot of standing traffic to light my way so the lights thing wasn't really an issue but oh my did I know I hadn't had a puff on my whizzer, I just couldn't get my breath and was coughing up a lung on my drive home, I think my Daughter was a bit worried!! But, as Gloria Gaynor would say, I survived!!

Anyway, that's enough about me, I want to hear about you and what you've been up to and, of course, how your quest is doing. So don't be shy...tell us how you're getting on...and have you all been across to visit Oldfloss and her strength and flex gang?? They've got all sorts going on I promise, it's well worth a visit to keep those muscles stretchy!!

What is the Quest?

The aim of the Quest is to help you find a focus or goal that you would like to achieve by the end of the Quest period.

The Quest takes one calendar month. You can join at any point during that time.

We ask that you are a C25K Graduate before joining the Quest. The reason for this is that pre-graduation your week is very much structured according to the C25K programme, and we wouldn't want the Quest to interfere with that.

Most popular goals are:

★ To run three times a week

★ To slowly increase distance

★ To train for a specific race

★ To add Stretch and Strength exercises to your weekly routine

The Quest is a personal challenge, so it's completely up to you!

Whatever your plan is for the quest I hope you all have a wonderful, safe and satisfying month...

Here's to week 2

Oh I am envious of you being able to get a run in during tutor time - our contract says I have to stay on the premises. I do get a lot of reading done (and am supplied with excellent coffee)

A better week than I expected really given I had a lot else on (two evenings out! I almost never go out in the evenings). I've only missed out on the swim because I intended to go this morning and instead it would have been a case of swimming *to* the pool. I could have walked over but that tends to work out a bit much as well as swimming (it's the undressing and dressing on top)... and instead we went for walk to see what was what. I did get a run in earlier in the week, and enjoyed my organised group walk in heavy rain yesterday as the visibility and Autumn colours were still good... and now count myself lucky to have got home from that just before things started to get seriously hairy on the roads. 150+ active minutes under my belt. And I don't think it is realistic to think that I can make the swim up another time.

A little bit limp on the yoga front, I've got 4 personal practices in and no online classes this week but OK.

Definitely echoing the 'be careful out there'. I love a puddle, as does Google and enjoyed them on the High Peak Trail on my run and many of the paths on the organised walk were more like streams, but a woman has lost her life swept away just up the road.

I said I was going to slowly increase distance which I have and managed just over 7k on Monday. Just adding on little bits once a fortnight . Still having to remind myself to slow down but I can tell with my breathing .

Now for a telling off Munmycav 😂 remember your inhaler.

Have a great weekend 😊

Well done Buddy34 , sounds like your quest is going well...and yes, slowing down will mean that you can run for longer so put the brakes on a bit!!! I promise I will remember my inhaler in future 😇

Hi Mummycav. I’ve had another great week, completed week 3 of ju ju’s plan, 30mins yoga on non run days, had a slow cold 14 k walk with my group. My recorded activity for the week is 358mins but when I’ve not been running I’m in the middle of house renovation so lots of sanding, painting, climbing ladders etc. Garmin keeps telling me I’ve been on a cycle! Loving hearing everyone’s posts and doing what I can to encourage them on their journeys. Happy running everyone have a great weekend. All you can do is your best, don’t set any unattainable goals, you are all doing great.

You have been busy Grannyhugs ...just the renovating itself is exhausting!!! Well done on the rest day yoga, I am trying to throw some yoga in too, I did some on Tuesday and I could really feel it in my core so it definitely works! Keep going as you are Gran and you will acheive great results from your quest x

Hey Mummycav!! 👋🏽🤗!

I’m happy to say that my quest to add strength and flex is well and truly on track! 😁! The running is not, but that’s ok, because it was a decision I made before my hamstring “niggle” turned into something more serious. I did my first run in 5 days this morning, but I’ve been hanging out with Oldfloss and the crew in Strength and Flex daily! I’ve got into a very nice early morning routine! So the niggle has actually had it’s benefits! 😂

Hope everyone is enjoying the November Quest as much as I am! It’s a great way to boost the mojo during the winter! Thank you Mummycav! 🤗❤️

Hope your little niggle gets sorted quickly, I can feel one developing so think I'll be joining you in s&f or maybe I just need r&r. Take care

Thanks so much! 🤗 It would come on after the run and today’s trial run went ok. I was deliberately very slow so that I wouldn't risk a set back. I‘ll definitely carry on with the S&F. I’m hoping to carry running after some real R&R over the whole weekend! 🤩❤️

1st week went well, managed my 3 runs, strength training and foam rolling twice...no time on Tuesday, was a quick run, shower and straight out to watch the fireworks with my son 🎉😊

Long run was a fab 13K, but I have to say I enjoyed the dark, rainy 30 mins one best...it was just fun 🏃‍♀️

Hoping next week goes as well as this one did 🤞👍

Well only managed 2 of my 3 planned runs but one was in twilight on Friday and the other today on a lovely sunny autumnal morning. Interestingly I've been puffing on my inhaler too - must be this creeping cold and damp!

Planning is better for this week as I'm working from home on Tuesday and starting late on Thursday so hopefully will get three daytime runs in next week! 🤞

Lovely DebJogsOn , it's been a gorgeous day today...I've just got in from my annual poppy run and it was beautiful and sunny..doesnt matter if you missed one of your runs, life just does that sometimes, sounds like you've more chance this week though Deb. I think your right about the damp and cold air, I am not forgetting it again and struggling like that...I have one in the car at all times now just incase of spontaneous runs!! Have a great week xxx

My quest for November is to keep up the momentum i made in October. Running at least 3 times a week, a strength training session and pilates :-)

I managed 4 runs last week so delighted with that! Just need to keep on top of getting up in the mornings, especially now its getting darker again.

I am totally loving running at the moment so that can only keep me on track 😍

So I'm getting my distance back up after a spell on the IC. I did two 5kms last week and one 7km. I'm hoping to do two 5kms and maybe an 8km this week. I had a sports massage which was great and she recommends rolling every night before bed. I'm going to give it a try. If I could just make rolling a habit, that'd be great. But where to fit it on in - wall squats, running, rolling, Pilates, etc. etc. Have a good week folks.

Haha..I know what you mean, we'll all be like rubber bands with all this stretching, rolling, pilates, yoga...sounds like you're on it though Hidden

Hi MC!

My quest is to do a 'yoga for cyclists' workout every week. I have signed up for the London Triathlon next year, it will be my first Olympic Distance triathlon 😲 I have just got myself my first road bike, and I am finding the new-to-me posture (I have never had a bike with drop handlebars before) is challenging for my lower back on the right side. I have been stiff in that area for a long while - I sprained it when I was 20 and it's bothered me on and off ever since. At some point in my rambling life I happened upon yoga, which helped, but I rambled away from it again after a while. I have since found that running is good for my back, but I think I need a little extra help to ride long distances on the bike.

I have so far done the same yoga for cyclists video twice. It's a Yoga With Adriene YouTube video - I think quite a few on here are familiar with Adriene. It's a gentle, relaxing workout:

I am going to try a different, and more challenging, video this week. I have found quite a few 'yoga for cyclists' videos on YT. Having skimmed through them I suspect that they are basically just yoga for yoga, but I'm going to stick with my theme 😊😊😊

Have a great week xxx

Oh my goodness roseabi ....I am in awe!! London Triathlon??!! You are a machine!!! I like the sound of your yoga quest though and I am sure it can only be a good thing for your back..you'll have to see how you get on with drop handles...being upright running to going down to drop handle will need some practice!!! I did a session with Adrienne last week and I really enjoyed it, I could feel that my stomach muscles had been worked!! I've down loaded a 'pilates for runners' on Garmin so I'm going to have a go with that too...theres all sorts out there to help us with our quests so we've no excuses xx have a great week you machine you xx

Hi MummyCav, just had to share my good news with you and my fellow Questers..... today my physio said...

🎉* I CAN RUN*🎉 😃

Just for 5 mins on a treadmill to see how it feels first. Then little runs on the flat outside. I need to warm up and stretch before and after. Physio says the scar tissue on my Achilles has gone, and doing the stretches he's been giving me regularly it shouldn't come back!

So tomorrow, after 10 pin bowling, I will be visiting the gym for a little jog on the treadmill... I'm excited..can you tell!

I will let you know how it goes.😊xx
