Scant 3k run today, to save the km for Sunday’s longer effort, so I revisited the Stepping Stones podcast. Always sounds so reasonable in Laura’s measured tones, but stepping up the step rate is not fun for a tortoise! 😨 And then I avoided the field path because of the mud but that sent me across the longish grass and whoosh, I could feel the cold water sloshing around in the toes of my shoes. Yuck. 😟 It got marginally better as the water warmed up, but not a lot.
Moreover, I’m not altogether sure it was particularly beneficial. Mr Garmin did say the run included my fastest 1km and fastest mile to date, but it wasn’t by much. And the just-behind records were on my 8km distance run recently, where I didn’t bother about pace. The faster cadence shortens my stride, so it’s a bit of a trade off.
On the plus side, Mr G was saying I’d increased my aerobic fitness by actually spending substantial time in heart zone 3 (it’s usually 2 more or less throughout). So who knows...? 🤔
Think I might not be cut out to be a stats geek and should stay with the long, slow tortoise plan. 🤣🤣
Happy running folks, and stay out of the way of those storms, all you race runners this weekend!
