For months I was happily running in my asics road running shoes but noticed towards the end of the run I was getting pins and needles in my left foot. Laces were not too tight so I got new shoes a half size bigger to accommodate my left foot . Everything seemed to be going ok but now I'm getting pains in my feet as I think going up a half size is causing problems even with using the lace lock thing that i'd seen online . When I went back to my original trainers there is no pain at all . But like i say some slight pins and needles at the end which I can put up with . 😊

Buddy, go into Glasgow as soon as you can, Run4it, 25 Bothwell Street, I got a gait analysis there back in April, then I bought the recommended shoes and socks to match, the staff are very friendly, you will be asked to go onto a threadmill, after that they will recommend the correct running shoes for you.
The shoes seem to be the problem though a size 7 is great but with slight pins and needles, a half size up and the problems start . It's as if I need something between a 7 and a 71/2 but that's not possible
My normal shoe size is a size 7, after the gait analysis I was recommended to buy a size 8 after being on the treadmill, just for running.
How frustrating!!! As AlMorr says, go and get your gait done just to make sure you’ve got the right trainers. Good luck 😁
I’m wondering if the half size issue can be tackled with socks... some running socks are thicker than others and a barleycorn isn’t that big.
Maybe try looking for thicker socks see if it works . I just can't afford to go get another pair of trainers 😊
I shouldn’t either, but one pair is getting to their end of life, so the Mrs will just have to eat less for a while 🤣
Sorry you are having troubles. As UnfitNoMore says try thicker socks before going for expensive new shoes. Run for it are great, we always use our local store. Pins and needles can also be if blood flow not getting there because heart isn’t pumping far enough - has this been happening when you run too fast chasing records 😉
My first pair of Asics I bought in December 2018 the pair I have the now are only a few months old so really don't want to buy any more the now.
Will look online for thick socks 😊
Running socks have supports built in . I bought these way before starting running. Was disappointed when I opened them as thought they felt a bit synthetic. They have been the best, most comfortable and durable socks I’ve ever bought. gooutdoors.co.uk/15922014/m...
I have a pair of double layer running socks from Hilly - cushioned sole on the outer & and thin inner next to the foot. The idea is the inner clings & doesn’t move on your foot & the outer cushions and flexes. Very comfy - pricey but you might find some on sale.
Have you checked your socks aren’t too small?
We don’t tend to notice our socks getting smaller and less stretchy the more we wash them, but I just found a pair of socks that I haven’t worn in about 18 months (literally) and they are a good half size larger than the identical pair they came with that have been worn and washed.
Hi Buddy, have you tried swapping shoes? one run each size not mixing them!!! For me it works to not get used to one pair (I don't have two sizes but 2 completely different models
Yes i know what you mean . I was using the first pair then got the new ones . I was using the new pair for 2 runs and the other pair for parkrun. It seems every time I put the new ones on the pain starts.
I have no new advice for you, but I’d love to hear how you get on. I did three great runs in my old, worn-out On Cloudflyers and then went back to newer Mizunos and really noticed the difference in size. When I bought the Mizunos online comments suggested going up half a size, but mine definitely feel too big. I tightened the laces yesterday and that hurt. (First sign of rubber peeling off the sole, too, so they may not be much longer for this world.) Please post updates.
Like you say , you can't tighten the laces any more and I've tried lace lock and to top it all I have ache in my legs today, something that doesn't normally happen. So back to my older asics for now I think they are good for 400- 500 miles when new just not sure how much longer I have left in them. 😊😊
Oh what a complete pain!
I had a prob too with a 7 or 7.5 issue. Usually a 7 is good but I wasn't sure if there was enough room for hot feet etc when running decent distances so got a 7.5 which felt good in theory!
Once running they just felt too roomy so I tightened the laces but then started getting slightly numb toes by half hour in which wasn't good.
In the end I tried some Slazenger gel insoles for 9.99 from Sports Direct, bought the mens size 7 -8 and had to take out the shoes insole (hadn't realised there was one until I did some googling after they didn't fit right) and replace with these.
That seems to have sorted my issue, still roomy enough but no slippage and don't have to do the laces too tight.
Maybe try a cheap gel insole in your 7.5's in place of the shoes one if it's removable and cross fingers?! 🤔
Have you considered the width of your shoes not the length? Must admit I had problems with asics and pins and needles in one foot (the smaller one) brooks solved the problem. Now I have new balance and they are quite roomy at the toes too. Maybe your newer asics are just too narrow????
