Well...running with a body torch is weird!

Daftly, I just hasn't anticipated the fact that the beam would swing about a bit!

It didn't move much when I was walking but went from side to side when I ran.

I soon got used to it and it was good but in the completely pitch dark areas I defo had to slow my pace a little.

Much better than only running at the weekend though and as it will soon be dark before and after work it's just something I'll have to learn to love ๐Ÿ‘

Good job... itโ€™s a means to an end... and youโ€™ll love it when spring arrives.

Just watch out for strange looking things if you are out a run on Thursday evening, it's Halloween ๐Ÿฆ‡. You may see vampires ๐Ÿง›โ€โ™‚๏ธ, witches, ghosts etc, I am sure you won't be scared.

Haha Al...I am out on my next run after work on Thursday, perhaps I'll wear some garlic around my neck ๐Ÿ˜‰

That should scare any gouls that might think of following you. ๐Ÿ‘ป ๐Ÿง™โ€โ™€๏ธ ๐Ÿง›โ€โ™‚๏ธ ๐Ÿ‘พ

Body torch? Is that something you wear like a belt? I've not heard of that before but seems an odd place to put a torch. Would a head torch not be a better option? I expect your head doesn't bob around as much as your waist does.

You wear it around your chest...strap goes around your chest and over a shoulder.

I bought it coz on reviews they seemed to be considered a lot more comfortable to wear and I have to say I couldn't even feel I had it on, but you may be right about the head torch not moving as much. As I say, not something I thought to consider!

I use a head torch and it stays pretty stable. Make sure youโ€™ve got spare batteries.

I have the chest torch from Decathlon and donโ€™t find it moves about much when I run. I have it quite tight though. Is yours adjustable?

It is Teacherm, will try it a bit tighter and see if that helps, thanks ๐Ÿ‘

I use a head torch and didn't notice any movement. I recently strapped a couple of bicycle lights onto my hi vis straps, and initially the front one did move, and oddly I found it distracting and it made me feel a bit sick๐Ÿคฎ.

I repositioned it to the lower waist strap, slightly off centre, and I don't notice it now.

I can't say it helps me see ( the head torch does), but it definitely helps me to be seen.

Luckily it doesn't make me feel ill!

Is kind of a sweeping motion from left to right. I've had a suggestion that tightening it may be better, I'll have to have a play with it later ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ‘

Is the torch for your benefit or is it for other people to see you?

Run46 profile image
Run46Graduate10 in reply to

Yes, for my benefit so I can see to run in the dark...there is a red warning light on the back for people to see me, and the straps are reflective ๐Ÿ‘

Try a head torch then ..

Someone made a point on one of my posts that head torches can be quite blinding to others. (And I think they were right.) It's a lot easier to put a hand across a body torch to cover it up. Suppose it depends how busy it is where you run.

I agree, a woman nearly blinded me running towards me last week!

The body torch is good for that as obviously it's lower, I've rotated it to face the ground directly in front of me so shouldn't bother people or cars too much, but did put my hand over it when I ran directly passed someone...did startle a couple of cats though ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

I'm waiting for my body torch to arrive. Managed to avoid running in the dark so far, but there'll be no chance of avoiding it now. Need to make sure I position it on the least likely to wobble body part ๐Ÿ˜€
