Running to remember Mum 💔❤️

My mum was 94 years old. She had dementia and lived in a wonderful care home but she always recognised me - and Flossie 🐕❤️

Yesterday morning I set out on my run with the intention of starting the Speed Challenge, but 1k in I had a call from the care home. Mum passed peacefully away yesterday, virtually 6 years to the day (anniversary is today) that we lost my dad. No fuss, no drama, just as she lived her life. ❤️❤️

So today I needed to get back out, gather my thoughts and clear my head. Flossie and I headed back to the common and I just ran. No hills today, no attempt at any kind of speed, just a lovely run to remember a lovely kind lady.

RIP mum. ❤️❤️❤️

So sorry about your mum's passing . I hope you and Flossie had a nice run together in memory of her xx🐕🐕

cheekychipmunks profile image
cheekychipmunksGraduate10 in reply to Buddy34

We did, thank you Buddy. Mum adored Flossie and the care home allowed her to roam free, stopping to be petted by all the residents and receive biscuits. ❤️❤️

I am so sorry about your mother dying cheeky, she was well looked after and died peacefully, my wife died of the same condition nearly 10 years ago aged only 61, I just hope running with Flossie will ease the pain of your mother dying.

cheekychipmunks profile image
cheekychipmunksGraduate10 in reply to AlMorr

It’s a horrible condition isn’t it Al? I was lucky in that mum always recognised me when I went in to visit. And she was always in good humour, as well as being very kind. A sweet lady. ❤️❤️

Losing someone is always hard but what a beautiful way to be able to look at her life. It is lovely that despite her illness she always recognised you & flossie!

I'm sure that she will be taking lots of wonderful memories with her, RIP cheekymum ♥

Sorry to hear that Cheeky, but you can believe she was happy towards the end, and I’m so glad she still recognised you as I know how difficult it can be dealing with a loved one’s dementia

Hugs
