One dog running

Some of you might have noticed that I my Spaniel, Bella, was feeling poorly the other day, so I had to run alone on Thursday.

I ended up taking her to the vets yesterday, and she is currently in the doggy hospital having intravenous fluids and tests to find out what is wrong with her.

Hopefully she will be home later today.

I find it hard to wait around at times like this so I went out on my next scheduled run, taking my daughter's beagle (aka my spanner's partner in crime) with me on her Canicross line.

I don't think either of our hearts were in it (pretty sure beagle was wondering where Bella was) so I turned the planned run back to front and only ran for 10 minutes before the intervals instead of 20, did the intervals, then just ran back to the car (which was less than 15 minutes).

I felt calmer by the time I'd finished, but I don't think it will last.

Thinking of Bella, it is so hard when they are poorly. Sending positive vibes your way. I can understand the need to run but when we are stressed it takes a toll on our bodies, you did right to tone it down a bit. Rfc xxx.

Oh dear, what a worry for you 😢. I hope the vet finds out what is wrong soon and she is quickly back to her usual self.

I've got her home! They still don't know what's been wrong/ is wrong with her (though they have discovered she has a very mild heart murmur). I have to take her back in a couple of days to figure out where we go from here.

Oh dear, that's a worry! Slow jogs are a good way to dissipate some tension though. A very useful thinking tool, so don't underestimate it. Space to think, go for a jog!

I hope your dog feels better real soon and that it's nothing to worry about.

Fingers crossed!

Sometimes it also works the other way- time to switch of my brain from too much thinking and just count steps or breaths.

Thank you! I have her home. They don't know what's actually wrong with her though, so we need to go back in a couple of days.

Thank you! I have her home now, but she has to take things easy for a bit.

Since I fell in love with our rats and then our rescue cat I have become totally soft regarding animals. Give her a gentle hug for me!

Poor Bella. Hope she's back out running with you soon.

Thank you. I'm really hoping that her heart murmur won't mean an end to our running together, but it might 🙁

Thank you. And thank you scruffy dog too. She is on so many pills now, she should probably be rattling.
