Back almost to the beginning?

Hello everyone!

This weekend marks the first anniversary of my very first parkrun and then embarking on Couch-5K. Graduated in January and by mid-summer graduated on 10K too.

All was going swimmingly until - as some of you may recall - I ran my first official 10K, 5 weeks ago - tripped on a tree root and injured my ribs! Now the pain is 80-90% better, I am pondering when to start back running, of course. When to re-start (keen not to delay full recovery) and at what level? My thinking is perhaps starting off with, say week 4 of Couch-5K? I would be perfectly happy revisiting NHS Laura's encouraging words ... but I remember she got quite tough in week 5πŸ˜„. Unfortunately, only dark evenings are free for me just now - and I don't want to risk another fall!

And in the meantime, my Saturday mornings marshalling at parkrun certainly keep me in the flow of things 😊

Thanks so much to all.

1k on a Monday, 3k on Wednesday, gentle parkrun on Saturday - you’ll be fine πŸ˜€πŸ‘

I agree with UTS, just watch out for tree roots though!!

I like what UpTheStanley suggests... you won’t have lost a lot of fitness, and the shorter runs will soon let you know if the ribs aren’t ready yet. Good luck.

Congratulations on your parkrun anniversary NSSN! I'm sure it won't be long before you're back running them.πŸ˜€

Many thanks to you all for taking the time and trouble with your encouragement and tips! I have tried a few 60-second jogs over the last week - partly to avoid being late for work πŸ˜„. No ill effects, thus far ... will report back in due course!
