Went out for a more gentle 5K this evening coz my legs were still feeling the last run but then I did better than expected the first couple of K and got competitive with myself! π
Chuffed with my time and negative splits, even if the last one did nearly kill me π πββοΈ
I love the fact that I can post things like this on here without feeling like I'm bragging π...just sharing my joy, whether you want to hear it or not π

This forum's great - you'll never be accused of becoming a running bore" (unlike at homeπ). I did my 3rd 10k consolidation run today, I only set out to do 5k but decided to keep going! Happy running ππ€Ί
Do you mean the 3 to 4K mark of a 5k? or 3 quarters of the way through a longer run?...there's no way I could do negative splits, or even relatively equal splits on a longer run.
Since doing 10K I'm finding I can keep reasonable pace maybe up to 6 or 7 max, after that I slow down a little every K. I guess that'll improve if I go further and increase my stamina.
The three quarter mark... apparently Iβm suffering from a well known phenomenon of turning off the brain a little in the third quarter of a run, and in my case pace control seems to go for a little, then I need a little recovery.
Fatigue does set in towards the end of the long run... what youβre seeing is relatively normal... especially as we are relatively new runners... I have to go consciously slower out for a 10k than a 5, and slower again for a 10 miler. Hoping to get to where I can think β10k paceβ and just go.
Lol, I think I may be guilty of that at the end of a run...a couple of weeks ago at the end of my 1st 10K I suddenly realised there was no music on anymore, no idea when it had stopped...I like to pretend it's coz I was so focussed π
Well done on your recent 10 miles by the way, impressive timeπ...it's a distance that appeals to me! Maybe when my legs have got used to 10K, no rush.
