Had to do a speedier run this morning. Thought I'd try negative splits as discussed with Beachcomber 66. Started out too fast - it's difficult, but .... watch this space!! Joyous running everyone, happy days 🌞🌻

The polar opposite of what I do, that’s what Deals! My splits are very β€˜positive’ most of the time, especially on my vile 8k last week where my 1k split was 7.30 and my 8k split was 9.11! πŸ™„πŸ‘ŽπŸŒπŸ˜

Good question! From what I understand it means each lap/split - whatever you do, you run a little faster than the previous one, so you gradually increase your speed overall. Problem is starting off too fast at the beginning, well for me it is...just can't manage to keep increasing my pace πŸ˜±πŸ˜‚ - happy days! Actually I like snail pace best!

Thanks!! So the idea is to kinda increase speed? I'm a 🐒 anyways!!

I'm a 🐌 ! possibly a 🐒 too, and definitely not a πŸ‡, but in a moment of not thinking I signed up with a friend to do a half marathon in February and part of the training is to do a Tempo Run once a week where I'm supposed to run fast. It's tough, 😳, but I can do it - perhaps, maybe, possibly πŸ˜‚.

The time I finally got it right was when I was following the pace of an experienced runner at parkrun. But left to my own devices lap 1 is usually too fast. It’s worth working on though because you can feel the difference at the endπŸƒβ€β™€οΈβ±

Ok I will persevere. I think I went off too fast, and my distances too short, i.e. distances were between 3 lampposts, before upping the pace. Probably better to do it per kilometre, or per 5 minute intervals. Maybe? 🌻

Yes we usually do it in 1k comparisons.
