Hi Runners
Just back from my next run! A very ambitious 5k after running yesterday (only 2k), but I’m following the plan that the App has for me obediently 💪🏽.
I had a torturous morning trying to plan the right route to run the 5k. Go to the park?......🤔.....no.....probably still muddy.....🤔...but it’s quiet, no traffic! 🤓.....🤔....ah, but it’s harder to run in the mud...are you up for tough running after yesterday?...🤔....maybe I could run to the library to bring that book back (🤪)...how far is that?...🤔....! WHAT??🤯🤯🤯!......, You get the drift I’m sure! Nightmare! And so frustrating too! I just want to feel excited and bouncy about going out 🙏🏽 !
Finally with encouragement from my VRBs (kicking my butt out, in a nice way), reading a couple of posts, telling myself “it’s dry and the sun is out, are you going to give up or just go?”! 🤷🏽♀️
Go....go....go! 🏃🏽♀️ 🏃🏽♀️ 🏃🏽♀️ and without a plan after all that, I just simply walked out. I didn’t drive to the park or take the library book with me (silly idea, I know! 🤪). I did take the path that would lead me to the library though, so not totally useless thinking 😂.
I’m not going to lie, it was a heavy run. There were some inclines that felt like mountains on the way. It was great to see the downward bits though 😃. I had to dig in quite a bit for the up bits on the way back 😯. I turned off the notifications which tell you how far you’ve run, as I didn’t want to be reminded about how far I had to go 😂. It’s a good job, as I did find the ups and downs quite mentally challenging.
That said, I did do that run in 37 minutes! I know it’s not record breaking and it’s not a PB, but with my version of mountain running 🏔 it is quite a pleasing result at this stage. Now that I’m back, dripping from the effort, I can say “maybe it’s good training for a nice dreamy flat run”! 😂
Well, I’ve got some way to go, but it really was an achievement for me today. So, thank you VRBs for sharing your stories and achievements and constant encouragement to just keep going out! The mojo is on a rollercoaster ride, but it’s still irresistible! 😉❤️
