Back out in my little park today. ππ½ββοΈ Practicing those cadence and acceleration-glider drills. Sarge is relaxing a bit now and Iβm feeling more comfortable with the drills too. I really enjoyed it.
For only the second time ever, I went out in shorts today βΊοΈ! I did βumm & ahβ a bit about it, but theyβre new and I thought Iβd give them a whirl while the sun is out and before itβs time to put them away! βοΈ
I noticed that the blackbirds were making quite a racket when I arrived, so Iβm not sure they were too impressed with βem! But tough! π
Yes, a goal does help. Iβve not really had one since C25K. But LEJOG is perfect for me. Iβll do as much as I can and itβs not too rigid πβ€οΈ.
Thanks so much WillowandSola!! π€ Happy so far!! ππ½β€οΈ
You are on fire!! Fab is back do do do dooooooo!! Love that you want to run or look forward to run on non-run days. The change isn't coming...it's happening ππππππππ
Definitely get as much use out of those shorts as possible before the cold weather hits π absolutely got to stick to the plan but how exciting is it that you want to do more π keep on doing what you're doing π€
I stupidly get excited because I think I can start running again, just a little bit, but my foot/achilles just can't take it. Makes the hip and glute issue seem trivial in comparison! Honestly it's getting me down. I miss what running gives me and even been wondering whether I'll be able to run again. Sorry, that's all a bit me feeling sorry for myself π
Gosh, don't feel sorry at all. Achilles injuries can be so frustrating. No matter what people say, you feel frustrated. It's natural too to feel like the comeback won't happen or there will be limits on what you can do. However (you know I'm Mr Positive π) you will get there and you will get back. All you can do, you are doing. The important thing is to try and reframe the here and now so that what you do to exercise and strengthen becomes your run time. A bit like pre season training before you get on the pitch. When I look back to January and all those weeks I missed it seems so far away from where I am now. I got back and to this point have stayed back. You WILL do the same π§‘
You're positive attitude is great π and I do feel positive most of the time... but my leg was a bit swollen last night and it's hard to know if you're doing the right thing. Considering getting a 2nd opinion but I need to make sure I'm not just being impatient. Did you see someone with your injuy?
I didn't actually but looked at lots of exercises on YouTube and kept doing them when I could (after I was able to bend it enough) but then went steadily building up mileage gradually. I ran twice in 5 weeks then week six ran 3 times totalling 11m then week seven 9 miles, week eight 17m and then back up to normal. I never got frustrated if I'm honest as I knew I'd be back so just did what I could with an eye that every exercise would make me stronger and more prepared. Keep positive though and if you feel a bit down then let me know and I'll listen π
Mum22boys!! π€π€ Donβt take anything away from the progress youβve made. With that desire youβll definitely get back out there too! Not so much with running, but Iβve learned that delays are not denials!! Trust in your wish!! Weβre all here rooting for you too! π€β€οΈ
I haven't braved the shorts yet but then it's not exactly tropical here....π€£π€£π€£ I'm sure that was actually a round of applause from the blackbirds - it was blackbird cheering that you heard!!
Ah thanks so much Fionamags!! Weβve had a couple of really nice days here. Iβm on a roll! Canβt believe it really! But Iβm loving it!! π
Ah....βThe shortsβ...π...very freeing. I hope to brave them again. Weβve got a few warmer days ahead I believe. Mine are the Linford Christie lycra type (and not too much lycra π), not the shortie running shorts. I have one, but even the Blackbirds donβt need to see them π³. I only use them indoors for my little workouts. πππ½β€οΈ
