My high of week 6 ended when I had my first running failure in week 7. My first attempt at the 9K ended at 7K with intense hip pain. Saw my Chiropractor on Friday and he gave me a clean bill of health. He felt like I hit the proverbial wall—physical fatigue, possible dehydration, and mental fatigue. I went out today with a plan of 4K and the “see how it’s feeling” mindset. I ran the 9K! It wasn’t pretty, but I did it.
I learned that failure can be mental as well as physical.

Ah so pleased you got back up. If you’ve been running hard week after week after week, you may need to take a mini break, I did this a couple of months ago, I had a week out to reset, I was burnt out. It did me the world of good. I’m getting to the point again now, so I’m going to have a week out at the end of October.
Well done on getting back up. Had a recent situation of 2 not so good runs followed by 10K after sorting my mind out. So yes the lesson learned is its not just the physical side that brings challenges to overcome - which you did.
I dunno when I ever heard 7k and thought “failure” it certainly wasn’t.
I like to get my long run in early in a week so that I can switch the runs around on the fly if I need to... and it happens a lot, my long run tends to actually be midweek, sometimes because it was my last run the week before and I refuse to run two longs back to back.
You stoped because of pain, got checked out and had great feedback. That 7k gave you new insights so when you look at your journey it’s a very significant win of a run if you ask me.
Great job getting that 9k done today. You’re gonna be loving that 10k feeling soon.
