Hi all - well I did it!! Hastings Seafront 10l!!! I started last and I rolled in last . But I ran slowly all the way. It was 5k there and back same way - all the lovely runners were giving words of encouragement! As they passed me on their way back.
Very well run, very friendly and I’m defo up for it next year!
I’ve got my bling!!! And I’m walking on air!
Thank you all as the encouragement I get from reading all your posts is great! I look forward to the email each morning like an email from a friend!
Anyway the next step is half marathon . I shall increase distance and hopefully speed to
Ps my time was 1 hour 20!

I was advised earlier that if I wanted to run longer than 10K its a good idea to increase your distance by 1 Kilometre a fortnight, so you have plenty of time to train for that HM you wish to run.
Thank you ALMorr - great tip. I use my treadmill for my runs and can do this! I’m also going to venture to a park run this month as will be good to get used to running with others outside in the fresh air! Build my confidence ! Thank you ☺️
Get across to the Marathon Forum for loads of terrific advice and support.. it got m to my first HM... Think fitter and finishing... never mind the faster bit
Thank you I will do! I think I will definitely do that! I’m not competitive at all and coming last would never worry me so fitter and finishing is great advice! I’m determined and so pleased at how far I’ve come! My VRBs are my sis in law and her partner. She’s just done a 5k and he’s off to do a marathon in Athens next! So where there’s a will( plus Hu Forum!) there’s a way!!
Well done on your 10k - sounds like a good one! I agree with Coddfish - that time would not normally be a last place time. Were there lots of speedy club runners? You should be proud of that!👏👏👏🙂🏅
Thank you Sandraj39 - yes there were many of the ‘Hastings Runners’ and other club runners there! The fastest time was 35 mins!!! Wow - will that be us one day?!! I was very pleased with myself and even more so now after hearing from you and coddfish that the time would not be last place usually! Thank you all for your help and support.
Congratulations. 👏🏼🎉 And a lovely write-up. I gulped when I got to your time 🤔😳 so was really glad to hear from experienced runners that it was not a “last place” time. As a confirmed tortoise, I wouldn’t mind being last but would hate to feel everyone might have gone home. 🤣🤣 Well done you - you deserve that bling. 👍
Thank you GranSpeed . It is a nice bling and we Aksum got a drinks bottle!! I did ha e a sweeper Marshall behind me spurring me on! I was so chuffed I had a permanent grin!
That is great 👍 and so is your time. I am on ju-ju’s plan and working towards 10K still! Perhaps next year an actual run to get a medal like yours?!? Well done and enjoy the moment and many more to come!👏😄🏆😂👍🥳
