Fantastic VRB turnout for Lyme Park parkrun this morning. In fact, with only 152 runners, our merry band was almost 10% of the total π Fair to say a number of us were slightly in awe of what is considered one of the toughest PRs - a couple of steep hills (including the first 800m) and no tarmac in sight; definitely a trail! Still, the weather was dry, a little grey and cool (managed to avoid the remnants of the hurricane). So we set off up the hill, then gently undulating until a short uphill on grass to the Cage from where there are fantastic views over Manchester in better visibility. Then a long descent, which was great fun, round the corner and another bit of steepish uphill and a short walk, past the sign telling us we were nearly there and to the finish. Official time 37:50 and 137/152, but I did it. Then lots of chatting over coffee/tea, cake and bacon butties. Thank you VRBs - it was a blast! Now for GSR in 2 weeks πββοΈππ»ββοΈπββοΈππ»ββοΈπββοΈππ»ββοΈ

We came, we saw, we gulped, we conquered Lyme Park
I do believe we were writing our posts at exactly the same time Sandie! Wasnβt it fun? ππ
Roll on the GSR ..... πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈ

Just fabulous... go you... each and every single one of you.. I have been waiting for these posts and Pikkies...I am so sad I could not be there, but sneakily glad.. I think those hills may have been a tad too tricky !
You all did wonderfully ! xxx
We missed you Oldfloss If I can do it, you would have breezed it. Most impressive thing I saw though was eldest kittenβs final sprint. Awesome π
Lovely to meet you... I was waiting for a post with the pics and then they did the bus thing... 2 showed up at once!
Same time next century for Lyme? π€£
This is lovely!!!!
Absolutely love this...well done you lot!!!
What a good turn out ! I must say you all look a bit cold so I guess that was a before pic. Well done everyone, especially jay who knew what was ahead of him. Thatβs a good time for that parkrun Sandie. Well done you. Is that miss UNM trying to avoid the camera?
It was the before pic Dexy and yes it was Miss UNM trying to avoid me. Quite chilly but we all warmed up as we pushed on up those hills. After pics on Cheekyβs post!
You didn't just do it Sandie, you looked strong at the finish! ππππͺπͺπ
Lovely meeting you all. I knocked 2 mins off my real best time.
Great to see you again Jay! And great you were inspired to put in a 2 minutes improvement! πππ
It was a super get together. See you again at another Parkrun soon I hope. (Maybe a flatter one!?)
It was a fantastic day Sandie, and it was so lovely to see you, all those VRBs weβd met up with before and VRBs that we hadnβt met yet. These meet-ups are really special and Lyme Park was a particularly special place to do it.
You did storm it Sandie, just think of how quickly you got your breath back at the end! You are definitely ready for GSR πππ
A big thank you to Pianism for setting up his list, as this gave us a real incentive to do it - it felt terrifying putting it in the calendar at the time (even though I really did want to do it) but weβve had a lot of experience of different surfaces, terrains and inclines since and I think that made a big difference.
Itβs about as different as you could get from our home parkrun but more about that very soon...
Iβm getting a lump on my throat reading this. It really was a brilliant morning π Looking forward to the next one already (as long as it isnβt as hilly π)
Well done you guys! Sounds challenging PR π³
Wow, what a huge & lovely bunch to meet up. π Have to admit to more than a bit of relief at being too far away after reading about those hills! However did you manage 37:50? Awesome, I say, all of you. ππΌ
You guys are so amazing! I love reading about all these meet ups π
Lovely photo of you all, you are all amazing, really enjoyed reading your report Sandie. Its just so fantastic when VRBβs meet up and I hope I can do it again next year, legs and life willing π€All the best for GSR Sandie x π
Well done to you all!
What an amazing turnout! Glad you all had a great time!ππ
What a great time, Sandie! Loved reading this π
Well done Sandie! Thatβs my local PR, still kicking myself I missed all this because I hadnβt been checking HU π₯
I suspect Lyme Park is still wearing a mouth agape β what hit me?β look of astonishment . The answer is, something very special πππππ to you all.π
Wonderful! Well done, sounds tough!! π¬
I'm enjoying reading about the Lyme Park VRB meet up! Great photo and very inspiring. Good luck for the GSR - What a nice way to train & meet up with others! π
