Hilly Lyme Park

My colleague took me running round Lyme Park. I’d been looking forward to/dreading this run for a few weeks now.

It has been pouring down for days now. It was flooding in places a couple of days ago, it poured down yesterday, it rained all morning...

...then come 1:30pm we finished work, the rain stopped, the sun even shone for approx 3 seconds, and off we went. (How jammy are we!? That happened last time when we did my first 10km together).

I’d been told 4 hills. Well I didn’t manage to count them but standing on the top of one hill looking over to the other hills we were going to run to, complete with valleys in between I was impressed. I didn’t run up all the hills, one was too rough and stoney, but the rest my legs just aren’t strong enough yet. But I did a fair amount of running uphill, until my knee muscles and lower thigh muscles were burning.

Back and showered now and looking forward to all the muscles my body is going to build in response.

Lyme Park is incredibly beautiful. We saw a herd of deer 🦌🦌🦌🦌 and 2 rabbits 🐇 🐇.

Glad that’s over. Night night!

Bravo! It’s a lovely place but still far far too hilly for me!

And for me too! I walked more than ideally I'd want to, but it has to have done me good 😁

ooh, the dreaded Lyme Park. Looks a good place for a walk to me Baddie. Well done you.

Lovely place for a walk, definitely.

Hills, hills and more hills! Looks pretty 😍. As hard as they are, nothing beats standing on top looking at what you just accomplished and feeling oh so strong and powerful 💪.

Or oh so knackered, but that's ok at the top coz the only way is down from there!

That is a stunning view, Baddie. It was well worth it (for us) for you to toil up it to show us 😁 really well done 👏👏

Thank you (taking a bow).

I've only ever walked up to that Cage and that was when I was young and fit.

But its on the parkrun bucket list 😁

It's confirmed you are bonkers or a true athlete. Get your gazelle legs on.

Its on Pianism 's list... 😵

I didn't realise it needed confirming, I thought it was a given (but it does help). Not gazelles in site, it was a slow plod 🏃🏼‍♀️🏃

If you're looking down on the cage, you've gone up a seriously long way! Well done for even attempting it! :)

Well done Baddie. Looks spectacular. Running up serious hills plays havoc with calf muscles so all respect to you. More of a flat jockey myself. I'm with Dexy5 good place for a walk.

Run-walk-running up hills. Don't imagine I ran them all.

It’s bad when you can’t work out if uphill or downhill is worse! Well done on your run, the view made it worthwhile I hope

I wish I could have posted more photos. I loved the feeling of being really jammy as the rain stopped just for our run, and just in our area as you might be able to see from the photo. We could see it raining a few miles away 🌨🌧

Couchpotato2 profile image
Couchpotato2 in reply to BaddieThePirate

Yes I can see the rain cloud moving away. I was lucky like that on my last run too (although I wanted to try out my rain jacket). I bet it was just amazing scenery!

BaddieThePirate profile image
BaddieThePirateGraduate10 in reply to Couchpotato2

I'm pretty sure you'll get plenty of opportunities to try out your new jacket 😉

Very well done Baddie! 👏👏 I’m happy Lyme Park is too far for me, otherwise I’d feel obliged to try it! 😅

Wow that’s really hilly BTP. I am so impressed 😊 by your run. Hope those legs are good.

BaddieThePirateGraduate10

Well I'm surprised but legs are fine this morning. It might take a couple of days before I feel it though, it often does.

Wow, very well done Baddie👏👏👏🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️ Running in Lyme Park is for serious (or totally mad) runners. Had a lovely walk there last autumn and that was enough for me!

It's total madness!

Ooh I miss Lyme Park. I used to take the children sledging down those hills and did few hikes with the scouts there. We had serious boots on. I can't imagine running it

I love the look on people's faces as you plod past and gasp 'apparently this is good for me'...

Love Lyme!! I’m nowhere near strong enough to do the park run though! Well done on your run 🏃‍♀️

BaddieThePirate profile image
BaddieThePirateGraduate10 in reply to Glossy

Thank you. I reckon I'd still be bringing up the tale end, like I was the first time I did it months ago. Haven't been tempted to do it again as yet, but will do it when Pianism has it set for the VRB tourist run if I'm around then.

Glossy profile image
GlossyGraduate10 in reply to BaddieThePirate

Sounds like a plan! I do Wilmslow which has a couple of hills but I walk them as it keeps my speed up. If I run them I’m much slower.

BaddieThePirate profile image
BaddieThePirateGraduate10 in reply to Glossy

People can walk past me when I'm 'running' up steep hills but I still run to try and develop my running muscles. I've got a long way to go!

BaddieThePirate profile image
BaddieThePirateGraduate10 in reply to Glossy

You can walk/run Parkrun. I did a couple of my C25k runs around Parkrun courses. You can go you know!

Go you!! It looks like a beautiful place to run. The runs are so much better where you can just get a bit lost in the amazing views. Brilliant! 🤗❤️
