It’s been a while since I last posted and a while since my last run, well it seems a while anyway.
Hadn’t run for a week thanks to life, weather and general busyness but managed to get out for 5k this morning. It was a lovely rainy autumnal run, not too warm, not too wet. It took me a bit over an hour cos I kept stopping to take photos lol. Managed to sneak quite close to a heron, watched a couple of kestrels hunting n found lots of funky mushrooms 🍄. It’s amazing how much things have changed on my usual route in the space of a week
Hope everybody’s enjoying the cooler weather. Happy running! 🏃♀️ 🏃🏻♂️

Weirdly considering the week’s break, the first 15 minutes were really hard, my legs felt so tired I was wobbling all over the place lol. My pace was slower than usual too, which I wasn’t expecting. I’d expected to feel all fresh n rating to go but it wasn’t to be lol
The mushrooms were interesting, I couldn’t believe how they’d sprung up so big from nothing in the space of a week. N I’d never seen the little fluffy white blob sort before but they were all over the path. Looking forward to seeing photos of yours 😊
Sounds like a delightful run Jill! Love your handsome heron. ❤️ This is a super time of year to run. The heat has gone, but it’s still not multi layers and runny nose time. Keep on running, and keep enjoying yourself. 😀🏃♀️👍
He’s fab isn’t he! He kept just flying a bit further along the path, almost like he was waiting for me to get the photo 😂
Yes, it’s definitely nicer running now it’s cooler, though I still had to pour water on my head a couple of times lol. Looking forward to it being even cooler for tomorrow’s run 😃
I did PR yesterday in an absolute torrent so I had nature’s help! It was fantastic - bit windy though ... 💨💨 I’d still take it over the heat any day. 👍
I know the feeling, I don’t run if it’s more than 20 degrees n even then I sometimes get heat headache on longer runs 😢 Yesterday was the first run I’ve done ever where I didn’t get all sweaty, I’m normally mopping my face every few minutes 🥵
Yes likewise! My only exception (apart from on hols) to voluntarily running in the heat was when I did the Severn Bridge 10k at the end of August. It was 27 degrees with no shade and no wind - the latter being almost unheard of on the bridge! 🥵🥵🥵
Yesterday I even kept my rain jacket on and didn’t feel too hot. Perfect conditions for me! 😀
Hiya Jill ! Nice to hear from you, sounds like a lovely run (hoping you didn’t eat any of those mushrooms) 🍄🤣
I haven’t ran for about 12 days due to weather, long shift work etc but am out in the morning ! Reading your post has helped, sometimes I need a push or kick up the 🍑
