Back at it after ankle injury

Went over on my ankle nearly 3 weeks ago, seemed I had stretched tendons on both sides of ankle. I rested, frustratingly, did all the strengthening exercises.

My physio friend told me to return to running as long as the pain didn’t go higher than 4/10. I used ankle support and went for it this morn. So happy to run again!! In the rain! Along a beautiful riverbank. Took it slowly as I’ve lost confidence and was scared I’d do more harm, did 4K. The first 10 mins pain was about 4/10, after that it eased to about 2/10. I will continue to build my strength in my ankles and take it slowly as being in the IC is crap.

1 good exercise she taught me to stop going over on your ankle is in bare feet to stand in 1 leg with your eyes closed for up to 2 mins.

So glad you’re back at it! I’m going to start doing that one legged balance too, thank you. Brilliant to be out running in the fresh air again 😊

Let’s be having it! 🙌🏻

This is great news! I know how you feel although my tendon needs stretching. Have been out since November. Went for my first run yesterday - starting C25K all over but I completely understand how you felt. I was exactly the same. Around a pond in the rain! Glorious. Couldn’t help singing out along to my music. I hope your ligaments continue to behave - happy running!
