Did I really do that?

My usual time is around 7mn/km but recently I’ve been regularly getting 6.47, so obviously improving.

I went out tonight on a different route with Mapmy Run on as usual.

I knew that I was going at a good pace but can you imagine my surprise to see at the end of my 5k that my pace had been 6.07!

Is it really possible to shave so much of your time (I was knackered!) or is MapMyRun having a senior moment? I did pause twice to get my breath back but I had paused the app and I wasn’t moving

What do you all think? Thanks

Well done. You are improving. Have you tried a parkrun yet? It’s a great way to gauge your progress and get an official time which you can use as a benchmark against your training. Plus I think you perform better in a crowd.

I’m not sure about accuracy of phone Apps. I use a Garmin GPS watch which I find to be very accurate regards distance, pace etc

Thanks Damien. I’m too shy for a park run at the moment 😂

Nonsense, your perfectly ready. No need to be shy. You turn up 15 mins before the start, get lost in the crowd and at the start of the run you just run along at your own pace. It’s not a race, it’s just a run in the park. But it’s great, and over a few weeks of going you will recognize people, they will recognize you and you will feel part of the community.

Don’t be shy, the atmosphere is very positive. It’s a lovely way to kick off the weekend.

I'd say it's possible. I'm another Garmin user but last week, after weeks of being fairly consistent timewise, knocked 2mins off my 5k and 7 of my 10k. No idea where I suddenly pulled those time from, but it seems it can happen and maybe we were hit by the same lightning bolt...
