Here, there and everywhere...

So, as usual, my run map has me running around like the proverbial, flying insect with the blue posterior.

A pleasantly warm morning, clear blue skies, and a game played in great spirit that makes getting up on Saturday mornings so worthwhile.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Haha 😂😂 that looks like my garden hose that always seems to get tangled up in spite of my trying carefully to wind it neatly........

I am sure you love running in that maze, that map just looks like that, I suppose there is a 10 feet hedge between each of those lines on the map to make it more interesting.

I always think it would be interesting to see a similar map for the players, and how it varies between, say, a prop and a winger, and between the 2 sides. Hope you get a chance to watch some of the RWC.

I think the players would be more straight line, back and forth as they try to run their specific channels, albeit while avoiding people trying to stop them. I have to follow the ball, which with a single kick, can suddenly be a long way away from me...

Yes - unless you are tracking Jonny May!

I think you should ask the players to pay more attention to where they run so that your after game map looks less messy : )

I was reading an article from 2010 earlier that said referees at the World Cup ran 12 miles on average whereas the players were 10 or less... wonder if the egg chasing lot is the same?

I suspect it's probably even more pronounced. I'm on my feet and moving pretty much the whole game, even if just at walking pace for a lot of it. Unless they break the line, players only tend to run in bursts of 5-10m before being tackled. Off the ball, they all have their own particular lines to run, whereas I have to follow the ball pretty closely.

I suspect if you looked at a player's GPS track it would be much more 2 dimensional, forward and back whereas mine flies in all directions.

I hadn’t thought of that... and now I’m really intrigued... may need to pay a visit to the local rugby club with a couple of cameras.
