My truly easy hard run! ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ ๐Ÿ’ช

Well thatโ€™s a daft heading, but believe me VRBโ€™s, I could have gone on and on ...... ๐Ÿ˜€

Knowing today was going to be a humid one (yuk yuk), I relished the opportunity to run in the grey drizzle - my favourite running weather ever - and took Flossie ๐Ÿ• up to the common (scene of my tumble!). I had no particular distance in mind, although I really need to accept that less than 5k IS a legitimate run ๐Ÿ™„, and I trotted off. ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ•

I started on the nasty hill section. Toxic 10 + hill is usually conducive to a cross mood, but today it felt totally doable. Heavier breathing, obviously, but my legs felt springy ๐Ÿ‘

It was pretty overgrown in places, the undergrowth across the paths fat with the rain, so I picked my way carefully and was mighty happy I was wearing trail shoes. ๐Ÿ˜€ Slippery bits, a few rocks, hidden holes (not going there again!), no problem.

I made a conscious effort to include all the hills. One particular one is short but pretty steep, the others are less steep but longer. I did โ€˜em all. ๐Ÿ’ช

I heard my Garmin buzzing at me, but I didnโ€™t check it. I carried on running back to the car, and I could have carried on. If I wasnโ€™t going out and needing to get home and clean I would have. It was a fantastic run! โค๏ธ

So I clocked up a gnarly 6.32k in a 55 minutes. Totally ok for the terrain. My heart rate barely made it into Zone 3, including all the hills! I am stupidly pleased with that run and had to share it with my VRBโ€™s. ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€

Happy running friendly friends!

I'm working at the moment. Even GOg's going out for a run. I'm getting itchy feet... Hopefully this pm I can go and have an easy run (I'm not even demanding enough to want it to be hard)...

I'm sure there's a joke to be made out of the fact that the left hand screen in your collage is offering you the option to collapse, but I can't quite work out what it is :-)

We shall see and thanks. Had my first run since Thurs yesterday and actually it felt pretty good. Still a bit tender all round but ended up doing 6.46k as Map my run paused for about 10 mins., not sure why. Luckily I had Laura on so after the 30 mins and her walking session I started a stop watch and did another 10 mins.

Feeling pretty good today so hopefully Iโ€™m back on track. Never thought I would be looking forward to going out but the plan keeps me motivated.

Have a happy day.

Ooo thatโ€™s sounding much more like it! Well done for your 6.46k - thatโ€™s a great distance - and itโ€™s good that you feel good after it! Yay. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

in reply to cheekychipmunks

Yes. I only planned a 4 or 5 to tick off but that happens sometime when you feel good.

That's a good run for you today cheeky, you like the drizzle, well where I am it's just that, as you know I have been a member of my local walking club on a Thursday since January, the walk is a 4.5 kilometre walk around the loch that I ran 3 times yesterday on my second 10K, at least when walking I can have an umbrella, although the drizzle isn't heavy enough for that, have a nice day, I am now switching off my laptop to get ready for that walk.

cheekychipmunks profile image
cheekychipmunksGraduate10 in reply to AlMorr

Enjoy the walk Al! I love walking my running routes. ๐Ÿ˜€

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate10 in reply to cheekychipmunks

I am just back from my walking club group, nice 4.5 kilometers walk around the loch, there is a member who has begun C25K and is now on his second week, he had asked me to accompany and pace him IF he gets as far as run 3 of week 5, I told him to take all the runs slowly, he told me he is struggling to run for 90 seconds, let alone 20 minutes.

cheekychipmunks profile image
cheekychipmunksGraduate10 in reply to AlMorr

Sounds like a lovely walk Al. ๐Ÿ˜€ How fortunate that chap is to have you as his mentor. Youโ€™ll be able to warn him about all the bogey runs - W6R1/2 for example! ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ

cheekychipmunks profile image
cheekychipmunksGraduate10 in reply to ktsok

Haha! ๐Ÿ˜… Well my HR is naturally super low ktsok, but even mine goes into zones 3 and 4 on hilly runs as a rule. I was pleased with today! ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ

ktsok profile image
ktsok in reply to cheekychipmunks

Iโ€™m jealous of your low HR lol. Iโ€™m just about to write a post about running today breathing only through my nose in an attempt to control my pace and HR. Well, my pace was definitely slower but my HR averaged - averaged! - at 170bpm. I am now wondering if it isnโ€™t capturing my cadence rather than my HR ๐Ÿง

cheekychipmunks profile image
cheekychipmunksGraduate10 in reply to ktsok

What do you use to track it? I just use my Garmin, although I know a chest strap is more accurate. I did one run recently that recorded my HR in zone 5 for most of it, and I knew for sure it was wrong - it was because it was raining hard and it affected the reading! My wrist was soaking wet and the watch wasnโ€™t tight enough so it kept slipping. ๐Ÿ™„

I think as kong as itโ€™s consistent it isnโ€™t such an issue. Maybe yours is 170, but thatโ€™s just you? ๐Ÿ˜€
