I signed up for my first cardiff 10k few months ago when my running was going really well. Managed to reach 14k with a friend. The problem is I spent the whole of last week lazing around on holiday without any running and when I returned on Monday I was keen to get out. I only managed 6k and had to walk a few times too. So disappointed and wondering if I can actually do the 10k on Sunday. I'm going out running tonight, planning either 8 or 10k then again on Friday for a short 4k. My friends are all tapering after running 18k last week, feeling like I'm going to be left in their dust. π’

Perhaps not running at all on holiday has taken it's toll on you Elbow23, I think the best thing for you to do up to the 10K on Sunday is to have a few shorter runs up to then, I think now that it would be safe enough for you now to run on consecutive days as you have been running for more than 6 months and are now a Graduate10, however, I would not advise you to run on Saturday the day before the 10K, anyway, don't worry too much about being left in the dust at the race, you won't be last.
Thank you, my friends have said to not do too much, I just wanted to be sure I could still do 10k. I'm annoyed with myself, was hoping there was going to be a running machine on holiday so only took my indoor trainers. No running machine. I did use Cross trainer twice and swam abit but it obviously wasn't enough π
I'm still doing 5k distances. In July I took a week off as I was on holiday when I did my first run I found it a bit hard after that it felt as though I hadn't stopped. Your next runs will be better. Good luck for Sunday ππ
Thank you for your reply, it is good to know that it isn't just me that has felt like this.
