Greetings from (mostly) sunny Fowey! Having arrived on Sunday, this morning was the perfect time for a first run. Level is not really on the agenda round here, so there was nothing for it but to dig deep and get climbing! I started at 7.30 to avoid the heat and after a slightly hairy jog through the narrow streets avoiding oncoming traffic, I was soon up overlooking the town with Polruan in the distance across the estuary. It was all downhill from there, making a nice 5.2k and scrambled egg on toast in our little apartment with the river lapping outside. Happy running all!

Haven't been to Fowey for a while, certainly not since I've been running. Just a little bit jealous here 😊

It is lovely with a good selection of shops and restaurants to go with the scenery

It looks lovely J, hope the rest of your break goes well. Flat terrain is definitely hard to find in the West Country.

Thanks - the sense of achievement when you get to the top is great!

Just like reaching the top of the little rise at the turnaround at lakeside parkrun then! Or for me, when I run the mountain on the promenade around the castle!

Hmm - those weren't the first things that came to mind!

Well done for running through fowey Jonathan- although it might be easier than driving through it! It’s a good job you’ve done hill training at home. Your holiday flat sounds lovely - have a great time.

Fowey is lovely! We often stay in Golant & walk there through the woods. Lanhydrock has a Parkrun - we haven't managed it yet but it's on the 'to run' list. Enjoy your hols!

Thanks SM - it's our first time here and we're really enjoying it. I understand from Coddfish that Lanhydrock parkrun is the hilliest in the country!😨

Oh! Maybe I'll just stick to walks around the grounds then!

Ooh that does look steep! Just think that when you get back home your regular runs will feel easier 🙂

Enjoy the rest of your holiday and think of it as training time 😎

Ah you've made me homesick for my holiday! We were in that neck of the woods for a whole blissful week. Came back home yesterday but could've happily stayed much longer! Happy running 👍

I’m envious! We often stay in Polruan and the thought of running up the 1:3 hill out of the village is a sobering thought, but once up and on top, its reasonably level except the high sided roads are narrow and you certainly need your wits about you and deffo no wearing earphones.

I wish I was there now. Lovely place.
