Hubby and I planned an Easter morning run-walk (he walks, I run) to celebrate Easter and we did a 3k in a Country Park, just 15 min drive from us. We’ve never been there, but had heard a lot about it.
It’s a bit of a gem, reclaimed from open cast mining, now natural habitats for flora and fauna, with plenty of trails, paths, routes for all sorts of walkers, runners, horse riders and plenty others. Info at en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ape...
We only did a quick 3k, which considering the ups and downs of the route was enough, but we also aspire to coming back next month and do a fully mapped out 6k.
so we were scouting out the trails.
The trails were great, with plenty of choice on how muddy you want to get, or how much firm footings you need. There are quite a few hills, but the views are splendid. And it has a cafe at the start/end so it ticks all the boxes. Ramblers were out in full force as well, as were plenty of families wearing bunny ears! It made for a very enjoyable run!
On pic, I mapped the route in both directions, just to goggle at the gradients! 🤣🤣 I am certainly not used to these kinds of hills but they were doable!
Now to our Sunday feast!
Happy Running on a wonderful Easter break, everyone!

Apedale is 15 mins from us too! I've never run there but I think I might give it a try. Glad you enjoyed it. Opposite is Silverdale Country Park, also reclaimed coal mining land. Shorter area but also good for a walk or run. Might see you one of these days!
Heh!? My reply got lost, so apologies if it appears twice.
We are gearing up to run the whole 6k (see pic), but not quite reaching into Silverdale Park. It looks pretty steep! Are there any good running routes there, you know?
Yes, saw you run the Trentham Parkrun. I’ve not been, but we should really get HU running tops so we can recognise a fellow HU runner! 🤣🤣🤣
Hi again, I haven't run at Apedale or Silverdale only gone there for long walks. It is quite steep in places. I've done Park Run at The Wammy which is an out and back but if you continued on instead of doubling back just after the church, the path would take you round Silverdale and to the Country Park I think. Mostly asphalt. I keep meaning to do it but haven't got round to it yet. Yes, HU t-shirts would be a good idea - who knows how many people we'd recognise!
