Longish post alert! About 15 months ago I burst into tears when I got home after completing week 1, run 1 on my C25K sojourn. This morning, this Old Girl ran (read shuffle/very slow trot!) 10km! Yes, you read that correctly- 10km! It was typical OGR weather, ie windy, but luckily that was to my advantage on the homeward leg as it pushed me along. For the first time in a long time I got the music wrong and did the first half with Jimmy Buffett in my ear, then when he left the stage there was nothing and I couldn’t get anything at all so I just trotted quietly along which was actually rather nice for a change. I had company at odd times as Dexy5 and UpTheStanley rose early from their bed to cycle out to meet me along the way and shout encouragement (at least I think it was!) and clap me in at the end - who could ask for better friends?! And Dexy presented me with a fabulous medal she’d made - my first 10k bling! OK, so it was a flatter than a flat thing route and it was sooo slow (1hr 42) but I’m feeling just a teensy bit pleased with myself! A huge thank you to ju-ju- for her fabulous Magic Plan and to all of you who have followed my musings along the way, both VRB and RBs. And once again, huge thanks to Dexy and UTS who got me into this malarkey! It may be slow and it’s never going to be pretty (Eliud Kipchoge need have no fear!) but OGR got there in the end!

That's absolutely brilliant! I've just started on this (timed) plan and I will be very happy if/when I progress to the 10k distance after cracking the 60 minute runs. At the moment just looking at the duration you did is phenomenal- well done!!! So there are plenty of challenges ahead!!

I agree, it was the same for me when I started last September it’s amazing what can be achieved. After getting to 10k slowly last month I have settled into a new consolidation programme of 5k, 7, and 10k each week, this week I am really feeling the benefit of this as my stamina has increased and this morning and I have ran 1minute faster than ever before for my 7k I am well pleased at this unexpected result.
So here’s to your consolidation runs.

Thank you! Yes that’s right - I started late Feb 2019, had a break on the middle with a calf strain and graduated in August. It’s gone quickly- which is more than can be said for the speed I run!
