Hi Paul, if I am running more than 5k, I always do run/walk intervals. When you run a long distance as an older runner, it’s very easy to lose form when you tire. With poor form, you are at greater risk of injury. Walking breaks give you a chance to regroup, focus on posture etc. I think it’s essential.
So you think that's ok then because that is exactly what I do sometimes i feel like am cheating
I don’t understand the ratio thing, maybe I’m daft lol. Would be awesome if someone could explain it without being too mathematical 🤪.

I had to put some walks in when I started running more than 8k. I think its okay, I feel a bit decrepit, so it helps me. Secretly though I'd like to run my next HM without any walking, but I will see how it goes.

I have recently started using it in particular for runs over 5K. As an older runner I’ve found it helps me keep going for longer, reduces my recovery and makes sure I keep better posture so for me there is less possibility for trips and falls. I’m no expert on it and am playing around with the ratio but I think for me it’s the way forward. 🏃🏻♀️😊
Yeh that's how I feel still get the distance in I did 13mile on Sunday and it took me 2.33mins which I dont consider it to bad like you said its the way forward and we are still out there running so that's ok
Exactly. That’s a good time too. I did 7.8 miles last week for the very first time in my life in 1.50 minutes. Whilst I new I’d done that as my legs were a bit stiff I recovered much quicker than my previous 6 miles. So for me I think it’s the way forward. It’s made me feel like I could do a half marathon next year for the first time. 🏃🏻♀️😊

Hi. I don't really know the science of it all.. but I do do it and I like it when I need it
