The leaves are starting to change on the trees and badge threads are changing on Bridge to 10k! We’re going seasonal and the first one is my favourite of the year. Autumn is a such beautiful month in nature and often a beautiful month for runners. Cooler days. Bright skies. Leaves underfoot…a mixed blessing sometimes!

If you’ve hit a milestone this autumn, you deserve to be super proud of yourself. So…if you’ve run 10k or 60 minutes for the first time, you’re in the right place to claim your new and shiny badge. Massive congratulations to you! 🎉🥳🎉🥳🎉

If you would like to claim your badge, reply below and tell me all about how you did it! That’s just because I’m nosey and want to hear all about your triumphant run.

Now you’ve hit your latest goal; you might want to think about what’s next. There are some great suggestions on this thread here…

If you’re even a little bit tempted to go beyond 10k, make sure you pop over to the Fun Beyond 10k forum. There really is a lot of fun to be had there! You’ll be made very welcome, It’s common for people who are running 10k to think about entering events and there’s loads of support (and pom poms!) available there too. Here’s the a personal welcome from the lovely admins there….

So who’s going to claim the first badge this autumn?

We can’t wait to see you!

I’ll claim a 10K badge please! Ran it the day before my birthday, with the help of Coach Bennett & his NRC 10K Head Starts. Had to do a new route to get sufficient distance - it’s got some long uphill stretches that were challenging (helpfully balanced by the downhill stretches 😃). Enjoyed it so much that I’ve done it another 3 times since. Think I’d better stick at current weekly distance (2x5K & 1x10) for a few weeks & do a bit of consolidation before venturing further.

Congratulations!!! You’re the first one of the season so take a 🏅 gold medal from me too. Absolutely super run! Consolidating is a sensible option when you’ve hit a milestone. You’ve got a nice weekly plan planned too!

I can recommend the Nike Run Club HM plan if that’s the sort of venture onwards you’re thinking of but there’s no rush and no pressure, Enjoy your new badge!

Thank you, I’ll wear it with pride 🥳 And I’ll take a look at the links you posted above, as well as the NRC plan…

It’s similar to the 10k plan-you’ll notice lots of crossover with the runs. Same idea with a mix of speed, easy and long runs, and the same five runs offered but choose three/make a week longer than a week if you’re at the stage of keeping rest days,

Celebrating this finishing line is the first step, although thinking realistically about going further is an exciting starting line to be on!

I would like to claim my 60 minute badge although I believe I am not far of the 10K mark too. Including my warmup and cool down walks, the distance is over 10K, the actual run appears to be slightly under at the moment. I am basing that on Google Maps as my phone GPS seems to be a bit iffy when using the running apps. If I go by the phone, I appear to take drastic 'as the crow flies' shortcuts through peoples gardens and houses!!

I have not followed any particular plan, just me and my boyfriend increasing the distance on one run per week. After finishing the C25K, gradually increased the time we run until we needed to change the route to avoid running back on ourselves. We then gradually increased from 3 or 4 runs per week to 6. One of those we then started increasing on our new route which gave us lots more options. Each week we selected a different road to run down. Some routes did not make much difference to the time, others added a couple of minutes. We are now up to 75 minutes.

Once every couple of weeks we run with my friends sister who does challenge us. She is in her mid 20's but needs almost constant supervision as her condition means she is easily distracted and quite vulnerable. We are more confident with running with her now that we are able to do longer distances. We could not match her speed, but at least if she did choose to go off on a different route we have a bit more left in the tank and could follower her. Luckily it hasn't happened yet.

Those runs, although very rewarding, are the most tiring probably mentally more than physically.

My friend has complete the C25K on her sisters treadmill but finds running outside much harder so has not joined us yet. She prefers to wait at home by the phone, car keys in hand just in case we need to call her.

You’ve done amazingly Lizzie. I’m so happy to give you your badge for 60 minutes. Let us know when you want to trade it in for the 10k one-I don’t think it’ll be long.

Sometimes people love plans. Sometimes people just love a gentle, free form organic build that works for them. You’ve found something that works with sensible increases and it’s paid off. I can only say massive congratulations and keep sharing your journey! ❤️

Hi! I am really proud to have made it to 10K recently! I did my last serious running in my mid 30s and am now approaching my 70th birthday (mid next year). I got started running again with the C25K, started doing park runs and have made lots of new friends through this all, some virtual and some IRL.

A few of us set ourselves a challenge at the start of the year to train for a 10 K and we have done 4-5 10K runs in our training sessions now….. the first time I’ve done such distances in a very long time! The 10K race itself is on 29th but I am feeling ready and also keen to get my 10K badge please 😃.

Hi. I ran the Petts Wood 10K yesterday. It was a lovely event. The whole of the running club was involved in putting it on and they were so encouraging and it also turned out sunny! A great day! I used the Magic Plan 10K plan and it worked brilliantly… thank you!

Hi MissUnderstanding. I would love to claim a 10k badge 😀 C25k changed my life and now Bride to 10k is doing the same. I'm presently following a Coach Gregg 10k plan. I'm about 6 weeks In and hope to get my 10k time down to 69 minutes to match my chronological age. Mentaly I'm about a standard 8 year old child lol. Kindest regards 😀

Congratulations on achieving 10K, this is fantastic:)
