Running leggings with pockets?

Hello everyone

I tried searching Health Unlocked for an answer to this question but believe me, don't do it if you've just eaten lunch because their idea of what pockets could be mostly had nothing to do with running.....

Anyway, can you recommend running leggings with pockets, plural? They need to be suitable for autumn/winter.

Ideally I'd like one pocket for my phone, another for my keys and another for snacks or a folding water bottle if I do a long run.

Preferably a brighter colour and not too horrendously expensive unless they are so well made that they will last me for years, I need function as well as style

I had a look on Decathlon's site but it was decidedly uninspiring, no mention of pockets, so I thought I'd ask you lovely people as I know there are some legging enthusiasts amongst you :)

Thank you :)

I was going to say decathlon too! Good spot @curlygurly2 , Their ‘trail’ ones, you have to search a bit, but they also do shorts, a skort (shorts with a skirt over) 3/4 and full length leggings, I love ‘em, plenty of room, and two of the pockets have zips…..

Best I’ve managed to find! Hope you like them 👍

My decathlon ones have pockets - think they were dhb ??ones? They've lasted me a few years..,.. was mighty disappointed my sweaty betty (sale) ones only had 1 but they're so good I forgave them! M and S ones have 2 .... My favourite shorts are happystride and they have fab pockets but haven't tried leggings..... Happy shopping!

My current Decathlon leggings only have a back pocket which is slightly too small for the phone and a bit awkward. Pity, but the ones that Curlygurly2 suggested look really good.

Yes I just looked and can't see dhb leggings there now..... Maybe I got from sportsshoes or something 🤔 You're right the ones Curlygurly2 found look amazing!!

I think dhb is a Wiggle brand

mine have three pockets - one on each leg and a small one with a zip in the waistband at the back. They are from Sturdy by Design

Some fabulous patterns here - sorely tempted but spoilt for choice!!

Love Sturdy by Design and Tikiboo too !

Curlygurly2 profile image
Curlygurly2Graduate10 in reply to Leotigris

I really didn't like Sturdy, the fit was rubbish, about 10 inches too long in the leg, and I could pull them up to my boobs...the fabric was shiny, and slipped while running, and they did nothing against the slightest low temperature.. Didn't last either....I contacted the company and the owner was incredibly rude to me, and blocked me from her site... if a company can't take criticism I don't reckon it much.

I've got many pairs of Sturdy by Design leggings and have a very positive experience. I do size up to Large even though I'm a UK size 12. I'm 5'4" and the regular length is perfect for me and I have never found them to slip down. I've had some pairs for years and they are like new.I did have an issue with last year's winter leggings as they were a different fabric (not as warm and cosy as the previous years). The owner tried to convince me that the fabric was unchanged. I don't accept her answer on this, they were visibly different and felt completely different. The suggestion was that my originals had changed due to washing. Not the case but apart from this issue I would recommend the company.

Leotigris profile image
LeotigrisGraduate10 in reply to Curlygurly2

Oh, that's different from my experience. I've only got short legs but didn't have a problem with size - I didn't find the legs too long and the waistband was at my waist where it should be. I completely understand how you feel about the company - I wouldn't want to deal with a company who responded in that way either!

I was going to suggest sturdy by design too, they have lots of sales, so cheaper then. I haven’t got them but a friend has lots of pairs and loves them.

I tend to buy all my leggings from locket loves locketloves.com/

They have often sales, but the pocket versions tend to not be on the sales. So sometimes I splash out on the one or other new leggings with side pockets left and right, and another phone pocket at the back.

The pockets are a game changer, but those leggings do cost,

Yesletsgo profile image

I have no self control whatsoever, just ordered a 'Skapri' so it should be there by the time I get home. Still actively considering the 5 pocketed Decathlon leggings too lol

CBDB profile image
CBDBGraduate10 in reply to Yesletsgo

LOL well, I’m sure they will be a beauty to behold.

Yesletsgo profile image
YesletsgoGraduate10 in reply to CBDB

Couldn't understand why I hadn't received a confirmation email from them, then found I forgot to press the 'place order' button. Then I realised it's my husband's birthday and I can't get him a present until we get home, so if I'm getting presents for myself before he gets his I'll feel sorry for him so I'm going to have to wait a few days. Don't think a Skapri is really his style 😂😂😂

CBDB profile image
CBDBGraduate10 in reply to Yesletsgo

Lol

Yesletsgo profile image
YesletsgoGraduate10 in reply to CBDB

Apparently the order went through because they arrived today. Great quality but I looked at them and thought 'What was I thinking?' I think they're for netball, not my style at all. So they're going back and I'm still looking.

Whoops , I said sturdy by design (it has been recommended on here before) but I should have said tikaboo

🍏I have Karrimore leggings with a waterproof pocket for my phone and a jacket with two lovely deep zipped pockets for the rest! Maybe an alternative for you going into cooler weather. If I get too warm I tie the jacket round my waist. The only leggings I have used with two good side pockets & a back one, are Kalenji but not to everyone’s taste as they are pantaloon type but extremely comfy! 🤣Hope you find what you are looking for!

If you like bright and colourful, I'd recommend a company called Rainbows and Sprinkles based in UK. I have several pairs with one zipped pocket at the back, but I do have a pair with thigh pockets which are big enough for everything. They are not the cheapest, but they are very well made and last year's. I run 3 times a week and they look like new. Hope this helps

I know its not leggings but maybe an alternative?

I use a flipbelt which is a bit like a stretchy cummerbund with splits in to add phone, tissues, snacks and a little hook inside for a key. It keeps everything very close to the skin so things aren't moving about but it is also comfortable.

Curlygurly2 profile image

I use this kind of belt too, but I was too tight to cough up for a proper flipbelt, I got an ersatz one from Temu, about £4

Yesletsgo profile image
YesletsgoGraduate10 in reply to Katger

I've got something very similar too, from Decathlon. It works but I like the idea of not having to wear an extra bit of kit (plus my belt has seen better days and doesn't sit very well)

Thanks Katger, something else to go on my list of things I never knew I needed but now have to have !! Mmm Xmas is coming over the horizon lol

Another call out for FlipBelt. I've had mine for 3 years now, they are good quality so seem to last really well. I bought mine because I don't like the feeling of stuff in pockets as I run. The FlipBelt can be positioned where it feels most comfortable, and holds things securely so they do not bounce around. There is an elasticated hook in a pocket for keys. Pockets suitable for my Samsung S9. And other pockets if needed. It is un obtrusive, and I do not notice that I am wearing it when running.

I got a pair quite cheaply from TJMaxx. I think they are actually ski trousers! They are quite thick, so ideal for the colder weather and there’s a pocket on each side thigh.

I have a thinner pair for summer but only one pocket and got them online from Asos.

Hi! I'm a real fan of Sweaty Betty leggings. The power gym ones are perfect for running. They have a side pocket on the left and a back pocket x for your keys. Unfortunately no pocket on the right , don't know why! There's a great choice of colours and a 50% sale at the moment! Lululemon has great leggings with 2 pockets but more expensive and never in the sales as far as I know. Hope that helps :)

I went to the dark side and bought some on Amazon called Ovruns think they are down as yoga pants but great quality, got them last December and they are still super!! Cheap too only 3 pockets though but deep.

I have two pairs of Sweaty Betty which have double pockets. A regular weight pair and a thermal pair. They are lovely but not cheap although Vinted and EBay are worth a look - especially in March when the NY resolutions have faded! Got my sports bras from Vinted too. I also have a pair of leggings for about £10 from Primark with pockets and they have lasted forever

I had 2 pairs of leggings with side pockets. I love them. They were not expensive from Shein (only after I'd got them did I hear about their working conditions 😬). I put my phone in one side and hankie and keys (in a little bag) in the other. I shall have to save up for some more ethically sourced ones when these wear out!

I got mine from Amazon. They have 1 waist pocket and 2 side pockets, have been washed and worn on repeat for 2 years and are still going strong. I had the cut offs but they are available in long too. Good price but only limited colours and sizes (xs, m, xl) I’m a 12 and M fits nicely

If you're in the U.S., the women-owned company Oiselle offers some: oiselle.com/collections/bot...

They also have various lengths - such search for Pocket Joggers.

(I am still trying to figure out how to find them in the EU... they were founded to help counteract some of the sexism in the running world...)

They look really well designed and well made, pity they are US only

Sweaty Betty hi waist running leggings are the best I’ve found…a pocket on both legs and a waistband pocket for keys etc. Good quality too. They regularly have half price sales, which are worth signing up to their website for.

Or look on Amazon at CrZ Yoga. They are supposed to be a dupe for lululemon and don’t fall down!

My running tights (yes, guys wear them too) are Decathon's trail running ones. The pockets are in a mesh band round the waist. The key phrase is "trail running".

I find I'm quite sensitive to any imbalance in weight, and anything in a leg pocket would knock me off balance.

i recently purchased 3 pairs from next, only black though but have 3 pockets, 2 big pockets on each leg and i at the back of the waist for my keys. They were £30 a pair however!
