Back in June my quest was to complete my local Parkrun without walking. I had done it a couple of times back in March/April time and then needed to walk on more recent attempts. The matches runs feature in Strava shows that today’s Parkrun was much slower than more recent attempts, but what it doesn’t show is that I ran ALL OF IT. Even the hills. So proud of myself right now. It’s mad because I have managed it in the past, I’m not recovering from an injury or an all inclusive holiday, but by the looks of this little graph I think I have just been trying too hard, and trying to run too fast. But today I did it, and I will do it again!!!

Well done, that’s great. 😀 I’m a slow runner, and know I’d be able to do PR quicker if I walked/ran - but personally I prefer to run the lot so I do! I’m also quicker when it’s cooler. You might find you rediscover your speed in the autumn/winter. 😀
Whatever time you ran, you succeeded in your quest which is awesome! 👍👏👏👏
Lovely to see you lining up again E! Well done for running the lot! Don’t worry, sometimes as distance builds in other runs your pace can slow down on a 5k, it’s one of the most difficult distances ‘middle distance’ because you run on the verge of anaerobic and have to sustain it. On a longer run it’s important to stay in more comfortable aerobic zones or you won’t finish. Some of the runners I speak with say their 5k times drop when they are training for a distance event and feels harder. You are not alone then, and doing the right thing by keeping on running that distance and giving it your best 😁👏👍
Well done E. You are going great guns from where I’m sitting. You have done 10k twice now I think? I haven’t been brave enough to go back to a 5k Park Run. In fact, I haven’t been brave enough to head out to do my old 5.5k circuit, a big loop from home with no shortcut bail out option. I’m hoping these autumnal cooler days with work/school routine will help get me back on track. It would be great to get together with some HU folk for a run at some point x
