So this is my 5Km run from home. It's up and down, and quite a challenge, some places very steep. It's an out'n'back road course, and I think it's pretty good for training for Parkrun.
So today I set off (north on the purple - done by hand in GIMP, hence the wobble), I checked that Garmin had the GPS signal and started it recording the run. After a few seconds I checked to see that it IS running, and the time and pace is about right - and it was. So then I forgot about it until the point (Green Blob) which is exactly 1Km from the start. I have loads of runs on this route and it always records 1Km there. Only today it didn't. Nada, nothing, not a dicky bird. The damn thing had stopped recording and not even recorded the bit at the start that I checked it had been doing. So I started it again and ran on. The Green Blob is the start as far as Garmin is concerned.
Does anyone have any idea what I did wrong? If I had clipped the button, I'd expect it to be in Pause, but it had gone right back to watch-mode. This isn't the first time this has happened, and if it's me, I'd like to know.

I lost a K last week...I thought...was sure I ran 9..of 10K...but it registered 8K...it was a route I have done so many times before..still don't know what happened...I do know it felt like I had run 11K after though!
No, I don't think it's you that is causing the problem with your Garmin, other runners have reported problems with that, very annoying if you don't have pace or time, apart from that your run seems to have gone very well after your recent injury.
I have been using Mapmyrun for all my runs except parkrun which I have had no problems with, I don't take my Smartphone to parkrun, I have a separate parkrun app for Parkrun which I look at after I receive my official result around 12.30 on a Saturday.
I got a email from the founder of Parkrun Paul Sinton Hewitt welcomeing me to the Parkrun community, just a hour ago I got another email congratulating me on my second parkrun on Saturday. 😊 🏃
I lost the start of one of my runs a while back, it seemed to have recorded the distance ok as far as I could tell, but it was missing off the map. But I think that was just because it hadn't locked onto GPS properly.
Yes, regardless of the app the GPS can sometimes fail. Very annoying and a reminder that it’s worth learning the distances in advance in case this happens.
I'm a terror for getting slightly lost and totally rely on my Garmin to map my run. I'd be fuming if it dropped out but tech can always go wrong I guess. But then, I normally use familiar routes so I have a pretty good idea how far I've gone. The glitch you got is baffling though.
