Hello my lovely runners, happy Sunday to you...I am envious of anyone who ran this morning, I love an early Sunday morning run when it feels like the world is still asleep, alas though, no run for me this morning as I ran yesterday at parkrun and celebrated my birthday with a bbq and a few drinks...well, when I say a few...
So my birthday fell on a Saturday, obviously I knew I would be starting my birthday off in the best possible way...and of course, i was sporting my gorgeous new Garmin...i absolutely love it...its so strange not having to take my phone with me, it certainly limits the amount of potential faffage that seems to occur when I'm dashing out of the door!!! I also understand now 'Garmin speak'....all the training plans and VO2 stuff used to baffle me but now, I see what Garmin wearers are on about!!! There is definitely no going back for me now...although I do have a little tinge of sadness when I see my discarded Fitbit laid on its side on my dressing table...I'm sure that will pass though haha.
So, I know one of the main fellas who's involved in the parkrun, he knew it was my birthday so I got a mention and a clap from the other runners when he announced that it was my special day and also got a 'happy birthday Bev' as I crossed the finish line...they were all the first to wish me happy birthday because everyone at home was still sleeping when I snook out of the door with Monty for my warm up walk.
The sun was shining, there were lots of runners this morning 429 to be precise..all eager to get going...after the announcements and the round of applause for the volunteers off we went. My chosen playlist for this run was one that Hidden compiled a while ago now, the mummycav playlist on spotify. I havent listened to this playlist for ages and I'd forgotten how good it was. This got me thinking about Jan...where is she? What's she doing now?? We used to have great fun suggesting songs for her playlists...and would eagerly await her announcement of what the next playlist was going to be...if you have spotify, have a look for them, they're so good!!
So the parkrun went well, it was a fab start to what turned out to be a lovely birthday...I was surrounded by family, i got some gorgeous gifts, lovely cards, lots of hugs and kisses from my children, we arranged a last minute bbq for family because the weather was so gorgeous and we all ended up huddled under the gazebo as the heavens opened later on but that didn't dampen our spirits...we had a great time...how blessed are we when we're surrounded by our loved ones?? I lit a candle for my Mum and thought of the many happy birthdays I'd had with her and how lucky I had been that she was mine. She would be amazed at me running, just like I am!!
I'm looking forward to many happy runs with my Garmin, it took a bit of time getting music on it but once that was done everything else was easy...If you're looking to buy a new watch I would definitely recommend this one. I'm looking forward to my next run already!!! Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone xxx

Happy birthday for yesterday; it sounds like a good one from start to finish. 🎂🍰🧁🥂🍾🍹
And your watch looks gorgeous mummycav, not like a sports watch at all. Which model is it? Playing with your Garmin will add a new dimension to your running and you can bore your family with your stats.
Thank you Dexy5 ...it certainly was a good day. I can see eyes rolling already...and I've been doing a virtual run a month too so the novelty of a medal arriving thought the post is also starting to wear off!!! Haha xx
Happy birthday to you Mummycav for yesterday, so glad that you enjoyed your run, especially at the finishing line when someone sang happy birthday, I bet you can't wait for this weekend as you are enjoying your running, especially the parkruns so much.
Thank you for my birthday wishes AlMorr ...I went into the butchers later on and I am friends with the lady who owns it and they starting singing happy birthday when I went in for my sausages!!! I had a great day x
Happy birthday Mummycav! Sounds like you had a brilliant day. I know exactly what you mean about your Fitbit, it’s like pushing away an old friend. Youngest kitten has mine but he doesn’t treat it with the respect it has earned 😉 but it is so nice going out without the phone. Enjoy!
This watch is a garmin vivoactive 3 music...you have to download Spotify then sync your watch with the app and all your music is stored on your watch! Amazing eh?!
What a lovely post! Happy birthday 🥳 Your Garmin is beautiful - I have gadget envy 🤩 I still don’t understand how it gets music on it if it doesn’t have internet access... tech magic! I have a new item on my birthday list now 😆
The perfect birthday really MC! How lovely to get a mention at PR, I bet you felt over the moon! ❤️
Yes, join the happy Garmin crew. Mine still does more than I know what to do with, but I love it. It’s not the music one, but that doesn’t bother me. You’ll never return to your Fitbit now (sorry Fitbit - I did the same!) Garmin all the way! 😀
I was, all those runners clapping for my birthday felt really special...
I'm sure I wont fathom everything my watch can do, they are amazing arent they? And I thought my Fitbit was the bees knees, little did I know! I'm enjoying being in the Garmin family
Thank you Hidden , this watch looks massive on my wrist...I've had a few comments on it already. I'm a Garmin convert ready! How are you after your soak? xxx
Ooo, you'll have to rest them a bit longer I think Hidden , you dont want to be walking like John Wayne all week!!! Haha...
I haven't actually seen a polar up close so not sure on the size but I think I remember seeing a photo of you somewhere and thinking that your watch looked big...yes, girly wrists comes to mind xxx
Thanks Decker ...hmmm. I know what you mean, I did look at it a lot when I was running...the face is so big it's easy to see..I'll have to try stop myself doing that or I'll become obsessed!!!
Sounds like you had a special day MummyCav, lots of love and cuddles from your family, your mum smiling down on you, and a surprise mention and 🎵Happy Birthday🎵 from all the Parkrunners! You (almost) can't mind that extra number attatching itself!😉
That garmin is the opposite of a gremlin...its whispering 'take me out...'😆😅😅
I sure did Bluebirdrunner and no, I don’t mind a number...that’s all it is really isn’t it? It’s how you feel that matters and I feel good...And you’re right, this garmin is making me what to clock up the runs all the time! Thankyou Jan, you’re always so encouraging xxx
Only just seen this so happy belated birthday and lovely watch!!💕
I have a cheap Garmin forerunner 30, pretty basic but I still keep finding things it can do that I hadn’t realised ( and I’ve had it over a year now ). And I am definitely a Garmin fan.
Thankyou limberlou , I think I’m going to be the same, there’s so many features on a garmin isn’t there? I’m def enjoying being part of the garmin family
A little late with my Birthday wishes - but heart-felt anyway! Sounds like it was the perfect day! & omg, yes...! your watch is splendiferous! love it - might have to get one myself, when running distances improve again...
I also miss Hidden & her lovely posts... I know she had some injuries, so maybe like me she will pop back up again soon... I do hope so...
