Hello my lovely runners, happy Sunday to you...I am envious of anyone who ran this morning, I love an early Sunday morning run when it feels like the world is still asleep, alas though, no run for me this morning as I ran yesterday at parkrun and celebrated my birthday with a bbq and a few drinks...well, when I say a few...
So my birthday fell on a Saturday, obviously I knew I would be starting my birthday off in the best possible way...and of course, i was sporting my gorgeous new Garmin...i absolutely love it...its so strange not having to take my phone with me, it certainly limits the amount of potential faffage that seems to occur when I'm dashing out of the door!!! I also understand now 'Garmin speak'....all the training plans and VO2 stuff used to baffle me but now, I see what Garmin wearers are on about!!! There is definitely no going back for me now...although I do have a little tinge of sadness when I see my discarded Fitbit laid on its side on my dressing table...I'm sure that will pass though haha.
So, I know one of the main fellas who's involved in the parkrun, he knew it was my birthday so I got a mention and a clap from the other runners when he announced that it was my special day and also got a 'happy birthday Bev' as I crossed the finish line...they were all the first to wish me happy birthday because everyone at home was still sleeping when I snook out of the door with Monty for my warm up walk.
The sun was shining, there were lots of runners this morning 429 to be precise..all eager to get going...after the announcements and the round of applause for the volunteers off we went. My chosen playlist for this run was one that Hidden compiled a while ago now, the mummycav playlist on spotify. I havent listened to this playlist for ages and I'd forgotten how good it was. This got me thinking about Jan...where is she? What's she doing now?? We used to have great fun suggesting songs for her playlists...and would eagerly await her announcement of what the next playlist was going to be...if you have spotify, have a look for them, they're so good!!
So the parkrun went well, it was a fab start to what turned out to be a lovely birthday...I was surrounded by family, i got some gorgeous gifts, lovely cards, lots of hugs and kisses from my children, we arranged a last minute bbq for family because the weather was so gorgeous and we all ended up huddled under the gazebo as the heavens opened later on but that didn't dampen our spirits...we had a great time...how blessed are we when we're surrounded by our loved ones?? I lit a candle for my Mum and thought of the many happy birthdays I'd had with her and how lucky I had been that she was mine. She would be amazed at me running, just like I am!!
I'm looking forward to many happy runs with my Garmin, it took a bit of time getting music on it but once that was done everything else was easy...If you're looking to buy a new watch I would definitely recommend this one. I'm looking forward to my next run already!!! Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone xxx
