Hi Lucy, the Magic 10 Plan on here (pinned post) is an excellent and simple way to get to 60 minutes or 10k. You can choose whether to train for time or distance. 😀
One’s just ending I think, so a new group will be starting soon. It’s great - I did it several times for fun, plus you “meet” lots of others doing the same and it’s nice to compare runs! 🏃♀️
Maybe check it out? Have fun whatever you decide. 😀😀
If you look on the pinned posts you’ll see one with Ju-Ju’s Magic 10 Plan (or something like that!). It’s an 8 week plan and it’s great fun. Sorry, if I had a clue I’d post the link for you - but I don’t! 😅😅
Great! There’s no need to worry, it’s fantastic and lots of us have done it multiple times. I think I did 4 for example! The best part is that it works! 👏👏👏
Plenty of advice on how to extend to 10k on this forum, but generally if you’re doing 3 runs a week, start making one of them 10% longer each week. Joining your local running club will be great value with lots of training & coaching opportunities, plus the advantage of running with others helps motivate a lot of people. Good luck!
Oh you should do park runs... thats the highlight of my Saturday ( do the runs i can when I'm off work). Confident runners, professional club runners, c25k runners, beginners, oap's, walkers, people with buggies ( and dogs on leads if your park run allows), tourist runners, walkers... folk of all abilities.. all shapes n sizes.. of all ages. Its great fun... register and go.. its the best thing i ever did! Highly recommend 🏃♀️☺. Let me know how you get on... do it ! Xx
Yes join a group or running club. I got to the stage where I could run 5K in my sleep not think about it, quick recovery time and no after effects aching knees etc. That’s when I knew I was ready to step up. Just kept increasing distance. Now done 4 10K’s to date!
Just as everyone says but slow down your pace on that longer run. The earlier magic plan is on this link. You can start it straight away or wait for the next one. You can do the runs in any order and take longer rests if you want. You are in control.
I am like you I am doing 5K runs. I’m in no rush to hit 10k anytime soon however my times at parkrun have stagnated so I’m looking to improve and the only way to do that is apparently to run for longer!!! I’m currently looking at a running programme to get me running up to 50 mins. Regardless of distance so I will try that out and see if it helps me improve at parkrun.
