I ran 8k yesterday and was all fired up and motivated so ran to Slimming World this evening. I haven’t run on consecutive days before and it was further than I’d realised: nearly 4k each way! It was really warm on the way there and then trying to get going again after sitting for an hour in group was really tough. I’d probably do it again but after a rest day, but right now, just having walked through the door, it feels like it was a foolish idea. Definitely heading for a couple of days rest!

Edit: I should say I’m pleased that I only gained 1lb over a ten day holiday. It’s clearly the running and walking as I ate EVERYTHING 😂

Yes even though I’ve been running well over the advised one year, I’m still not tempted to run 2 days on the trot, although I can understand that buoyed up feeling. I’m not sure my calves could take it even though I do the pot run stretches.

Very well done for gaining only 1lb on your holiday. You should be really proud of yourself

Thank you! It feels more like half a stone! I think that contributed to my wanting to run again today. I won’t do it again! Everything aches now: heading for an Epsom salts bath 🛀

Well done you. If you can't enjoy your holiday and everything on the menu when can you. 😊😊

Well done Molly! Hopefully you’ll have no ill effects after your runs, just a few aches. 🤞

I ran yesterday and today, only because I simply had to get out in the rain this morning after numerous hot and sticky runs recently! I won’t make a habit of it, but I feel fine this evening. No running for me until PR on Saturday though! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

Brilliant... and well done... maybe an idea to leave the rest days in situ for a tad longer, as you are still a newish runner:)

Especially since the run before was 8K! Plenty of stretching and some leg exercises today will ease things:)

Clearly you need another Welsh holiday to hep that weight loss too :) xx

Well done you!

Thank you! I’m surprisingly ok today but yes I have certainly learned my lesson and won’t be doing it again!

You'll survive. I try and run every other day but consecutive days every now and then do happen. Stretching is the key.

I'm dreading to think about holiday weight gain despite being active (think I'll just avoid the scales!).

I was very surprised to be honest!

Hi molly1973 ...hmmmm, running on consecutive days is hard work...and what can seem like a small run soon feels too far! Rest days are important...I’m sure you’ve had the run down on them? (Pardon the pun) it’s all about muscle repair...even if we feel like we could do 10k on consecutive days it’s not a good idea, my legs are aching thinking about it! I’m sure you’d have had no problem running to slimming world, sitting for an hour and then running home again but not after a fantastic 8k the day before! Put it behind you, lesson learnt and all that...and focus on the successful 8k and of course the 1lb weight gain after a holiday?! Now that, for me, would be a miracle! Well done Molly ...if you can, have an extra days rest, you deserve it! x
