8k four weeks running

I have held back from pushing on to 9 for a couple of weeks just did over 8k for the 4th time today. I don’t want to get an injury and have to stop. I go away for a week then when I get back will push to 9 or even 10. It seems such a long time to be out running 50 mins tonight plus warm up and down.

You can stay on 8k as long as you like DaneUser. You’ll know when you want to move on. But are you doing 8k in every run? Most of us progressed to 10k by using the magic plan in pinned posts. This gives you a 4k, a 5k and a long run each week. It is a formula which allows you to do a fast 5k (say at parkrun) a 4k where you can try out hills or intervals and the long one should be at an easy pace. This builds your body and stamina up , hopefully avoiding injury. You shouldn’t increase your weekly distance by more than 10% each week . So when you do go further it might be best to do 9k one week and 10k the next. I hope this helps.

Everything Dexy5 says 😊. The beauty of long runs are the time they take - all that head space 😊. Good luck with getting to 10k.
