Oh my god, so many little black flies this morning! Not the usual tiny little slivers of black, more like ants but with tiny wings instead of the usual long slim ones. No idea if they were ants or not but oh my they were everywhere!!! 😩😩😩
But the run went great, 50 minutes of awesome! Not too warm, nice n slow n steady, n just felt like I could run forever. Managed to lose the cap off my bottle but happily found it again on the return leg, no weird old man today telling me what a good looking woman I am (just go away, creepy man!) n no marauding dogs with owners who are completely oblivious. Just perfect!
Happy running everybody!! 🏃♀️ 🏃🏻♂️

I’m a bit limited cos I trail run n there’s not much to choose from. There’s only been the one perv so far n he’s too old n doddery to do anything but talk. I don’t think he knows he’s being creepy, I think it’s just how his generation are. N it’s just one dog that bothers me, he’s a Weimaraner so quite big n likes to put his paws up on me but he seems harmless enough, it’s just annoying cos his owner is always looking at his phone instead of keeping his eye on the dog 🙄
Lol! Honestly I’m more tempted to steal the owner’s phone 😂😂 I definitely think if dogs are gonna be off the lead then owners should be paying attention to what they’re up to
All insects love my blood and I come out in big lumps if bitten so I spray myself with insect repellant before I venture outside atm. Another reason to prefer winter running *sigh*
I’m surprised I’ve not been bitten yet to be honest, midges love me. Think I might invest in some of that oil from Avon that bugs don’t like, I bet it smells nicer than insect repellent. Definitely with you on preferring winter though, at least then I can run when I feel like instead of being dictated to be the heat
I had the fly problem recently, somebody told me that they are attracted to the colour yellow?. My yellow running top was certainly covered in them at the end of my run, I had to take it off and shake it before I could get in the car 😕
They are definitely,I taught in a school where the kids wore yellow polo shirts d uniform. For a couple of days every year they were a bit reluctant to go outside 😂
What a shame you were plagued by them SJR. None at all round our way - I know that because if there were they’d all be attached to my legs. 😩😩
I was bitten by Killer Horseflies in Munich last summer. Absolutely massive suckers which left me with yellow ooze running down my legs (TMI? 😳) Jungle Formula helped, but I realised too late they’d be a problem.
Eww! Horsefly bites are horrible aren’t they! Never had one thankfully but seen them, they’re evil. Just remembered, there should be some Jungle Formula in the cupboard somewhere, will have to see if it’s still fit for use before tomorrow’s run 🤞
Urghh they drive you mad! I've been harrassed by big ones lately as I've been out in the fields of cows and sheep. They accost me when I'm struggling to open and close gates while avoiding nettles that sting through lycra. I end up flapping my sweat mopping cloth at them and muttering with the occasional f***ing outburst that I just can't hold in! haha
That conjures up a vivid picture 😂😂 I didn’t know nettles can sting through Lycra, thanks for the tip. Thankfully my trail has a decent path though I have to avoid the massive brambles that are taking over part of it 😕 Roll on fly-free winter!
...and that's why I invested in a Y membership. Boring to run on a track, but air conditioned (Ahhhh...... heavenly when it's 90 out....) but it's not the flies--it's the stingers and biting deer flies that get me.
Yes, it was definitely flying ant day here yesterday - they were all over the pavements as I walked home. Fortunately I didn't have to run in it. But forget about the ants! You ran 50 minutes and described it as "great" and "awesome". I think that's brilliant!
