Hey everyone, above is the link to my Parkrun report this week. It’s my first one after just 5 weeks of park running. I didn’t want to shout about it but someone on here said I should share it, it’s full of newbie enthusiasm and hopefully some of my sentiments will resonate with you.

Good luck AlMorr, I will cheer you on. Yes there is a mobile app, it’s pretty good as you can keep track of your runs and PBs without visiting the website. If you’ve registered with Parkrun already and have a barcode you can get started right away.
Not all park runs have enough volunteers to write a run report, thankfully ours has a core team of volunteers and there’s usually a run report every week.
That’s not to say that you cannot enquire about doing one for yours! I’m sure they will appreciate it! And it counts towards your volunteer count and you can do the run as well, win win!
Fantastic report JaoJao. 👏👏 How lovely you got to write the PR report. We have them at ours sometimes, but I have to admit I don’t take much notice of who writes them. I guess I just assumed it was the Run Director or someone (now I feel bad for not paying more attention!) 🤭
Anyway, yours was excellent, and I’m so happy you enjoy PR. Isn’t it wonderful?
Good for you, and here’s to many more happy Saturday mornings (and other running days too!) 🏃♀️❤️🏃
Yes it’s so wonderful to be involved in Parkrun and not just as a runner, it’s been nice to give back and I hope I get more opportunities to do more at our local one.
Don’t worry if you didn’t pay attention to the run reports, I didn’t know what run reports were before the run director offered me the chance to do one, haha!
Saturday mornings are the best for Park runs, going to try a bit of tourism too when I reach the 30 minute target or thereabouts.
There are quite a few of us who partake in VRB meet-ups so that might be something you’d like to do if you fancy tourism one day. 😀
I’ve personally done 2 such meet-ups so far and it’s such fun meeting people from the forum, and I’d now consider them real friends, not just virtual ones. ❤️ I’ve given myself a (flexible!) limit of 2 hours drive away! Bonkers, but fantastic fun.
A few of us met at Leamington PR this past weekend. It was brilliant! 🏃♀️🏃🐕😀
That sounds a great idea, meeting up at Parkruns. Is there a particular thread where it’s organised? I might like that if the meets are in the nearby area 👍🏼
Someone local to the parkrun in question tends to put a ‘shoutout’ thread up a week or two beforehand. It’s such fun I’m considering a verrrrry long drive to one in October where lots of VRBs are going! 😅
Upton Court is my NENDY! My home run is Black Park which is lovely - especially in hot weather because of all the shade from the trees. The last couple of months I was aiming for some Parkrun tourism as there's several in easy reach, but unfortunately I can't run just now so haven't managedany at all. I'll make it to Upton Court one day though!
Hey Linda, what is a NENDY? Neighbourhood Event Not Done Yet...? I am going to try Black Park soon! It’s not far at all. Would love to see you if it’s possible.
Upton Court is so friendly, around 180 Parkrunners on average, a mixed terrain, but relatively flat, great views of Windsor Castle as you probably know being a local! When you try it out, let me know and we can say hi!
Almost! Nearest event not done yet 😀. Do PM me if you're going to Black park. I probably won't be able to run it for a couple of months, but I can always volunteer, or take my bike for a ride after the run is over - or both! 🙂
Stress fracture of the 2nd metatarsal! Haven't been able to run since 19th May, but not confirmed til last week. Currently ending my third week in an orthopaedic boot, so a long way to go before a 5k run! May make that Upton Court parkrun and set myself a new course PB, regardless of how slow I run it. Or perhaps try even sooner while I'm still at a run/walk stage 😀
Oh sorry to hear that. Any idea what caused it? You could volunteer for Upton Court if you felt up to it too. Always nice to get a feel for the event by volunteering.
That's a thought. Does Upton Court struggle for volunteers? I may offer. I'm actually doing some volunteer parkrun tourism at Oxhey in a couple of weeks😀
I suspect running must have been the cause, although I did drop something on the foot just before it started playing up. I did my first three HMs in about 8 weeks; although I trained slowly and had rest weeks after each HM I assume it was too much. No idea if there are other underlying causes but I guess time will tell. Trying not to worry about that too much yet and just concentrate on getting back out there 🙂
Upton Court has a good team of volunteers but they have said over the summer period they are likely to be short so take a look at the future roster if you fancy a role email them! X
There’s a great bicycle route to Eton/Windsor from Upton Court, and also towards Ditton Park. Plenty of options, maybe we can have a cup of tea after at the rugby club, they are kind enough to open their facilities for us!
