Iโm home and have just eaten my third ๐ of the day. ๐
What a fun event. Every type of runner, walker, all ages, all abilities, all happy - and we were all a lot warmer than weโd been promised by our weather forecasters as it ended up being 21 degrees and sunny. (Nothing compared to yesterday thankfully). โ๏ธโ๏ธโ๏ธโ๏ธ Still, I was ๐ ๐ฅต, and still am!
The course was 2 laps of the Downs, lots of it is my regular route, so I knew it well. No records broken today due to the sheer number of people on the route, but in true cheekychipmunks style I ran the lot. The vast majority of people around me were run/walking, so lots of leapfrogging happened! Iโm not entirely sure it was a full 10k (Garmin said 9.45k), but itโs no biggie. I earned some money for a good cause and I got bling! ๐
Next weekend is Leamington PR where Iโm looking forward to meeting up with some VRBs. Running makes life good! โค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธ
This evening weโre meeting all the kids for a slap up Mexican meal. I intend to eat the entire menu!
Happy running friends. ๐โโ๏ธ๐

Thanks Al, I was most certainly happy. It was a lovely event, a beautiful day for it - and getting bling for having a wonderful morning canโt be bad! ๐โโ๏ธ๐ ๐
By the way Cheeky, last week at long last I went for a gait analysis and bought the recommended shoes, I posted a photo of them under the heading "Ya Beauties" I like the shoes and went a run with them this morning. I hope to run my first parkrun in them in two weeks. ๐ ๐
I know what you mean Sask. I seem to cook gently for several hours post run. Iโm not a massive sweater as a rule, and Iโve read that can manifest itself in a redder face than some. That would explain my ๐ colour! ๐ ๐ ๐
I never used to be much of a sweater, but that has changed, especially my hands, since my hysterectomy a few years ago. I'm shocked at how much my hands sweat but my face is still beat red ๐
Arenโt we charmers? ๐ Iโm very happy we were all runners (apart from some poor family and friends) on the Park and Ride bus back to my car. We must have been a fragrant bunch - and poor bus driver! ๐ณ
Itโs amazing TC, now that Iโve run beyond 10k in training, it felt nowhere near as daunting as the Bristol 10k in May - 10k is hopefully going to be the new 5k! ๐
Thank you Sandra, it was a well attended event, full of enthusiastic runners and walkers, and everyone seemed to be having a great time! ๐โโ๏ธ๐๐
Ooo thanks Dottie, Iโll remember that while perusing the menu! ๐ ๐
Well done Cheeky, glad the weather wasnโt as brutal as it was yesterday. More bling ๐คฉ and another 10k under the belt. So now youโre training for a half marathon and possibly the London Marathon ๐ฎ.. And it all started with โwelcome to week one of couch to 5kโ ๐ outstanding stuff. ๐
Thanks Fabbo, it really was a fantastic event. Such a positive atmosphere, topped off by a magnificent meal with my hubby and 3 grown kids! Itโs not often weโre all free at the same time. ๐๐
Thank you Razouski! Iโm slightly ashamed how much I ate last night! We had a wonderful time - the perfect end to a great day! โค๏ธ๐โโ๏ธโค๏ธ
Oh youโll love PR, Iโm convinced of it! Itโs so easy to chat to people, thereโs zero pressure as all abilities turn up, dogs, buggies, Giant Vegan Runners inflatable chickens (yep, and they overtook me one weekend too - the shame! ๐ฉ๐ฉ)
Yey, well done cheekychipmunks , I did race for life in my other life (before running) but I walked it...i did it for mum who I did eventually lose to cancer but I was so proud of myself...and you should be too...j hope the Mexican meal was delicious?! Congratulations x
Aww Mummycav, so sorry about your mum. ๐ There were so many people there running for people theyโd lost, it was poignant reading all their signs. The turnout was amazing, and Iโd definitely do it again. I too felt proud to be able to contribute in a small way to the fantastic cause. ๐โโ๏ธ
Oh, and the Mexican meal barely touched the sides, it was delicious! ๐
I was in close proximity yesterday CC...passing through Temple Meads and Parkway on the way back oop north after holiday. Great run meal and family all in one day; doesnโt get any better. ๐๐ต๐ต
Ahh fantastic BC. Hope you had a great time! Youโre wise to avoid the M5. It was ok yesterday but it was nightmarish on Saturday. Took my son nearly 4 hours to get to Exeter from Bristol to visit his girlfriend .... ๐ณ
Yes, I had an amazing day all round. A great run, followed by a mahoosive meal. Basically a perfect day! ๐
9 hours on a train doesnโt do much for flexibility though!! Just done a hardish 5k to limber up for 13k this week๐ฌ. All I can say about your son is it must be love๐
