First run since 5.6.19! πŸƒ w4r1 5-10k plan

Hiyaaaaaa,

I've been doing much more lurking than running lately, that is to say I've been doing no running at all for more than 2 weeks! The only reason being was that my one suitable pair of headphones have been off for repair and, despite the warm weather, I didn't want to run naked.

This morning however, on a lovely day in Caerphilly nr Cardiff, I couldn't do it anymore. I'd just had an email saying the new headphones are en route and took the further delay as the motivation I needed to get back out there. My next run was only 20 minutes after all, before the dreaded 3 x 2 min max effort runs I've got to look forward to 😳

It was certainly something different running with no music or audiobook etc playing in my ears, as anyone else that has run naked will tell you. Though I didn't think I'd be bored with no artificial audio, I didn't imagine it being as good as it was. Listening to all the wildlife and the sound of the water in the brook was ample distraction where I needed it.

No picture this time sorry, but I'll make sure I take one next time.

Somehow running for 19:52 (running app was 8 secs behind my 5k - 10k plan) I covered 3.65km at an average pace of 5:26.

Happy running 😊

Mike

Fantastic Mike! It’s good to have you back, and I’m sure you’re happy to be back too, naked or not naked (so to speak .... πŸ˜³πŸ˜…)

I actually enjoy running naked. As you said, it’s nice to listen to your surroundings for a change. I do it quite often now, whereas I always used to run with tunes or a podcast or something.

Keep up the great running, and enjoy your maximum efforts run! πŸƒπŸƒπŸƒ

Hey Mike πŸ‘‹ I must say when i’m running in the countryside I don’t listen to music, seems to spoil it. But I do when i’m road running. Good to see you back.

Glad it all worked out, Mr Speedy Mike - think if I had nearly 3 weeks off it would be more of a crawl! But I have found I prefer no headphones when countryside running in the spring/summer. Lots of distraction and loveliness that I miss if living inside my head. Smells & sounds as well as looks. Who (besides the dog) knew the nose was part of running?
